This is exactly what my local SC stated to me - always available WiFi is key to receiving the latest updates. This said, I made modifications to ensure good WiFi overnight, but according to my Teslafi account, my MY just sleeps the nights away ...
Seems if you are a M3/MY owner with vision only and with no FSD then you are SOL with receiving recent updates. Oops, that’s me! Just have to be patient!
I did that once. When I opened the driver door on my MY, I got a message on the screen that basically implied “hey dummy, you didn’t put the vehicle in park, so the vehicle automatically did this for you”. That was enough of a reminder for me that I haven’t done so since.
No reason to feel bad about anything, demo and inventory cars are available to everyone/anyone who decides to buy them. I’m one with an early April order and the order has an August delivery date. So, I just did the same exact thing and found a match in inventory and pulled the trigger...
After 10 weeks of totally unresponsive frustration with my order and more importantly with my SA, the saga is hopefully over.

Are you saying you didn’t actually “buy” the car with the $100 order fee but called your SA and had them assign that VIN to your original order? If so, you were lucky it wasn’t bought before you reached your SA. What about transport charges?
