No hatch-back on model 3 - Anyone else disappointed.

It's a shame for sure. Should've been designed from the ground up as a mini model S design. Could've had the same glass ceiling still. Feels like they're almost aiming for impracticality for some reason.

Poll: Why do you want a Tesla? [from 2016]

It's definitely a combination of factors. A move to sustainable transportation, quick acceleration, lower maintenance, investing in American tech companies, saving energy costs, convenience of being able to charge at home (road trips are maybe <=1% of cases for me).

    Front End... Hmmmmmm

The side profile makes me appreciate the original design. The pointed front edit makes it look too much like a Chevy Camaro or Corvette. Tesla needs an original styling, and this picture really shows it off as something that looks more high end than it is.

    Model 3 Notchback Trunk - Deal-Killer?

I'm confused why you claim that making a hatchback sedan would hinder visibility. Simply look at the Model S, their own vehicle. 3 could've done this. Glass stops behind the rear passengers, and just continue another separate piece of glass there going forward.

    Model 3 Notchback Trunk - Deal-Killer?

This seems so obvious and simple to have implemented from the start. It's frustrating and annoying that people are excusing Tesla's lack of interest in practicality when they could've transferred the hatch design of the S in the 3. Raise the joint beam to behind the rear passengers' heads on the...

How does the trunk work on the Model 3

I really hope they add a beam/joint behind the rear seat and make it function like a model S. There doesn't seem to be any good reason why this wasn't done in the first place.

    Wiki Model 3 Reveal Event Coverage (3/31/16) 8:30PM PST - Discussion/Pictures/Video

So there's no difference between a VW Golf and VW Tiguan? Ford Focus and Ford Escape? So many companies have hatchbacks and compact SUVs on the same platform. Some of us want smaller cars with the same practicality.

    Well THIS is interesting....200K max

This is extremely exciting news if Elon holds true to this and we're all interpreting it correctly. Tesla could very well sell an additional 200k cars during that two quarter period while the full tax credit is phased out.

    "Ventless" Dash Design

I highly doubt this was an oversight by the dozens of engineers who designed this car.

    "Ventless" Dash Design

It's been pointed out how unfinished the design of dash must be because of the exclusion of vents, but as can be seen (heard) in this test drive demo, the dash has been designed to be "ventless," with some kind of invisible, single slot design instead. It's mentioned right at the beginning of...

    Glass roof

I assume they'll turn the trunk into a hatch after this prototype. No way they're going to go from an already perfectly implemented and superior hatch on the Model S to that totally impractical hole in the rear.

    Model 3 Notchback Trunk - Deal-Killer?

People are talking against the idea of a hatchback/5 door like it's some kind of technical impossibility in this segment. Ummm VW Golf, Audi A3, Ford Focus, Mazda3, Toyota Prius, Chevy Cruze; I'm confused why this is such a feat. Tesla literally just had to add another bar & joint for the trunk...

    Hatch or Notch?

I'm hoping there's a chance that they'll change the design. Add another beam and connect some of the rear glass to the trunk to make it a hatch.
