    They’re usually cheaper without the subscription. The question for a non-Tesla is how much cheaper the superchargers would for them with a subscription ie how many kWh do you need to charge to save the 10.99 a month. That’s about 80kWh or two-three significant charges on a supercharger.

    Tesla is pricing low to attract business from other networks. Odds on it would increase the price to manage demand if the network was overwhelmed. It's a commercial business after all.

    Gridserve and the rest. Instavolt and BP Pulse already have more rapids than Tesla. MFG and Osprey also pushing hard. There are a good half a dozen or more networks aiming to be the biggest.

    I subscribed for the last two months and, no, you don't give any details about the car. You pay, you charge.

    You plug in, select the stall in the app and click start charging. It doesn't know the vehicle but it does what any other rapid does and reports the state of charge in the app.

    It's good value for money. I drove to the south of France mostly on the supercharger network and it was just as quick and easy as when I did it in my SR+

    You also have to use an app on those without card payment. I'm in France right now in an MG4 and I failed to get a charge at a supercharger twice, once because all the superchargers literally disappeared from the app for an hour or so and the second time because the app randomly changed my...

    Not sure you'd call Applegreen small. They have fuel forecourts across Ireland, the UK and the USA. They may not have many charging locations yet but they have the sites to become a huge player very quickly About | Applegreen US Motorway Services

    I'm pretty sure Musk said not long ago they were aiming for 10% profit on supercharging. Most of the non-Tesla networks are making a loss on charging a lot more. Who knows what the Tesla maths actually is. It's not transparent for sure.

    The regulations on contactless payment do apply to existing rapids. You have 12 months to comply once they come into force.
