Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Those who are disappointed by the AH price action: I'm curious to know what you think the market was expecting to see today vs what we actually saw.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Substantial, iterative improvements on battery cost, efficiency and performance was my "base case" for what the market was expecting from Battery Day. That's what I saw in this presentation. Which is great! But don't see anything that should have surprised to the upside.

Wow I admire your Cojones. You may get completely wiped out if we have another big macro selloff between now and then.

Really crazy action on 7/2 puts today. Somebody has bought about a million dollars worth of contracts, strikes $500 - $700, largest position $660 strike (about $700,000 worth). Additionally, volume on $200 puts is 11,525 contracts which dwarfs the previous open interest of 20.

Well, I presume that's because there are no delivery centers within 100 miles of that town. It would be a useful exercise to find the zip codes of all the delivery centers, query each one for availability and use that to gauge inventory over time. And to see how that tracks with reported...

If this were the case one would expect to see pretty low inventory, no? I just did a search and found 24 new S, 50 new 3 and 26 new X within 25 miles of my zip code. Is this considered low? I remember looking some previous quarters where there was literally zero inventory available.

But the quarter ends in less than a week. Is it normal to go from order to delivery in 6 days?

That is exactly my point. My comments were in response to another commenter suggesting that the lack of guidance update is bullish. I come in and say that "hey, that's not necessarily bullish" and everyone gets their panties in a bunch.

LOL it would be kind of silly to reaffirm guidance on a Q4 report no? Seeing as how the actual numbers for the year are known and everything. See my earlier post about the Q1 2019 letter. The whole context of this conversation is another commenter suggesting that the lack of update on guidance...

Yes, that’s kind of exactly my point.

Not trying to be a dick here but need to chime in. Tesla has historically used the delivery reports to reaffirm guidance. That they did not address guidance at all in yesterday’s letter is not necessarily bullish.
