    New Inverter AC unit

When Tesla installed my 2 Powerwalls, they could not backup my AC unit because the LRA was too high at 147. This was a new AC unit and my Son who owns an HVAC company had done the install. He called a few weeks ago and said no problem dad, I'll swap that unit out for a 4 ton Inverter system...

Potential Red Flag warning in NorCal this weekend.

My Powerwalls are in Storm Watch and fully charged from the grid. Previously they were dropping to 20% every night as I don't have enough panels to keep things really charged during these winter months. System charged to 99% from the grid, I didn't have to do anything. Gotta say I love the...

    Failed solar/powerwall inspection

I am in El Dorado Hills, Had my inspection about a month ago for 2 Powerwalls. Solar was pre existing. Powerwalls and backup panel, non backup panel and Powerwall controller are all in the garage. The big Switch is outside on the common wall to the interior equipment. Inspector was thorough...

Picking a fight with HOA (CA)

Drive the neighborhood and find others that may have that same issue and use that to get them to approve. With my HOA, changes and things that are visible outside typically require approval of immediate neighbors. My neighbor came to me to sign off when he was replacing a cracked driveway with...

    Understanding the powerwall settings

All of the settings will not be available when you first fire up. The system does some learning and then opens the advanced settings for you. Mine took 4-5 days as I remember.

    Breaker Ties

Good Catch! Yep, Square D breakers are like Hen's teeth, almost impossible to find and Tesla has the majority of them and that is all they use.

    Breaker Ties

OK, makes sense although every circuit they pulled through to the backup panel had its own Hot, Neutral and Ground. Seems awkward to me but I can live with it. Just surprised. The words "Common Trip" and the plastic pieces tends to indicate it is needed. Doing a little additional reading...

    Breaker Ties

Here is a picture. The plastic breaker ties are labeled Common Trip, which means if one of the breakers trips, the other one that is tied to it will also trip. Makes sense on a 240 circuit but not sure why they would do this on individual 120 circuits and shut off a neighboring circuit. When...

    Breaker Ties

A little strange on my Tesla Panel. They installed the snap on Plastic Breaker ties on almost all of my breakers. So even a single 120Volt outlet circuit has a plastic tie on the handle that connects it to the next breaker position. This means that to turn off one breaker, I have to switch...

November is looking like it’s going to be a very good month

No, they didn't and my bad on the long outage of 1 hr 45 min. Turns out that was when Tesla shut the system down to install a non backup panel. Later that night the short outage occurred.

How many days after inspection does it take to get invoiced?

Final inspection on Friday Nov 6. The following Monday Nov 9, I had an Invoice. Paid Nov 12 with Credit Card.

Tesla Refused Powerwall Install - Now What?

Clearly moving the panel 20 ft is a lot of additional work. In our case, the 400 Amp panel was on the outside of the garage and they were able to locate the new panel in the garage directly opposite the outside panel. They then pulled all of those circuits through to the new panel and there was...

Using a Credit Card or Paypal to pay for TESLA Solar

I received my Invoice for my 2 Powerwalls at the first of this week. I called yesterday and was able to pay by Credit Card. My original order was placed on July 2, 2020, Installation was Oct 30. They did come back out the Wed Nov 4 to add a separate Non Backed Up panel instead of leaving...

November is looking like it’s going to be a very good month

November is good for me. Powerwalls installed Friday Oct 30. Tesla came out on Thursday Nov 5 to move a couple non backed up circuit to a new no backup panel, building Dept was here Friday and signed off. Got a note from PGE of possible outages at my address. Looked at the backup log toda and...

    Can water beads sunburn panels?

Not a likely problem, panels will be dry from heat and wind and change will occur gradually.
