Did anyone else cancel their Model S order to wait for the GEN III

I for one canceled mostly due to the car's heft, but the Gen III may actually be a better fit for us. I am also waiting to see what Audi has to offer with these e-trons we are seeing in the press. In my opinion, Audi is making the best cars right now. Despite this great initial effort by Tesla...

Excessive size, weight, maintenance costs, lack of expected features=deposit refund

It does not perform like any sports car I know of. It performs like a large sedan with good handling and acceleration. If it weighed 4000 lbs, the range would likely be 200/275/350, and the car would handle significantly better.

Excessive size, weight, maintenance costs, lack of expected features=deposit refund

While the car handles well, the amount of energy required to move 4600+ lbs is substantial and easily noticed when driving the car. This feeling is even more prevalent in the Fisker. The Panamera while being a similar size but weighing 3900 lbs felt much more nimble and maneuverable, but has...

Excessive size, weight, maintenance costs, lack of expected features=deposit refund

14 months after giving our deposit (#4768), we finally decided being an early adopter was not in the cards. The sheer mass of this vehicle is really the main reason, but the other reasons above were significant also. While the maintenance program is very comprehensive, it costs significantly...

Would you Buy Model S if it had an ICE instead of Electric?

If you could afford an R8, buy it. It kills the Tesla S in its EV form. You're talking apples and oranges here.

Had my test drive yesterday, probably gonna bail out because...

We also had a 97 S500 tank. Length-199", width-75", weight-4686 lbs. My wife commented she thought the Model S rode like this car with a vaultlike solid feel on the road at speed although the Tesla dramatically handled better on turns. She just remembered what a pain it was to use for running...

Looking at the Avalon specs on the toyota site, it lists the width as 72.8", length 197.6", and curb weight as 3572 lbs. An extra 4.5" of width and 1100 lbs is a big difference in my opinion. How does your Avalon move around with 4 250 pound occupants and 2 big suitcases. Just a wee bit more...

    Having Second Thoughts

But do you truly enjoy driving a large 5300 lb car that feels cramped on the inside? The Karma is a drop dead gorgeous car on the outside, but I really couldn't imagine driving such a heavy beast of a car everyday. I drove the Karma, and gave my Model S deposit later the same day. Now, after...

No, your 987 weighhs 3000 lbs. Not a reasonable comparison.

The 6 Model S problems and what I'm going to do about it

mIt seems to me that if anyone needs to fold their mirrors in to actually fit into their garage, this car is just too wide for their garage. The mirrors are a huge aide in pulling out from the garage, and with them folded they are of no use, regardless if they electrically fold or not. Tesla...

I am incorrect. These tires are only $247 at tirerack. They seem to be somewhat of a bargain compared to the 295/35/20 Pirellis on our Panamera.

I must say, I never checked the steering settings, but the steering feel is not primarily what I am talking about. From a stop in a slow moving environment like a parking lot, the mass of the car requires significant throttle input to get moving and once up and running it is fine. Trying to...

Porsche Panamera with 20" Pirelli P Zero Rosso Treadwear rating 300-rear tires replaced at 8000 miles, fronts at 10,000 miles. Cost Average $450 per tire plus tax and installation.Inability to rotate the tires due to staggered sizes accounts for the difference, but the Model S weighs over 600...

I absolutely thought it handled well once moving over 20 mph. Under that speed I felt the mass of the vehicle detracting from its maneuverability. Regarding the front clearance, I sure the front fascia was lower to the ground than 6", or maybe the car was lowered by the air suspension since we...

George, Thanks for your response to my post. I am not going to request a refund until my wife has a chance to actually drive this car since only one driver was allowed during this event, and she didn't want to drive it before I had the chance. I do think the car is very nice , handles well...
