Tesla Wall Charger only pulling 40 amps, that right?

I have the 72 A charger in my 2018 S100D. I installed a 90 A circuit which gets me 72 A into the vehicle and 52 mi/hr charge rate with a Tesla Wall Connector. My point is, if you're already getting 31 mi/hr charge rate that's pretty good since I'm not able to double that even with more than...

    Cost of Fuel Equivalent

Here's my numbers on an S100D: 3.7 cents/mile. My 25 mpg Hybrid SUV: 15c/mile. Time of use electricity is 12.5 cents/kWh when I charge and regular gasoline is $3.50. I'm happy for you if you're cheaper than this on either the gasoline or the electricity. I used EPA average for both vehicles.

Don't leave unless it shows 6% or more arrival

Wow... This is incredibly useful info and wisdom. I've yet to even drive my car with 5% or less charge, but now I know what to expect when charging should I get down that low.

Do you use a Tesla Wall Connector?

I have a Model S100D and I exclusively use the HPWC hooked up to a 90 amp, 240 V circuit. My vehicle charges at 72 A which is all the onboard vehicle charger allows, but this gets me about 52 mi/hr of charging which is fast enough to fully charge, if needed, during my TOU rate plan hours of 11...

Blog Tesla to Remove Stalk-Confirm for Navigate on Autopilot

I find it way too conservative on changing lanes. It needs to grab an open space in the open lane and move to it quickly. Now, even in Mad Max mode, it takes way too long to execute the lane change which means traffic from behind closes the open space by the time NOA has started to move over...

    Owner Frustrated with Tesla Depreciation

When we bought our S100D this August, we sold our 2012 Mercedes E350 to a relative at the blue book (KBB) value of $20k. We paid >$70k for the vehicle new. Obviously, the vehicle lost more than 2/3 of its original value in only 6 years, but we didn't think this was unreasonable nor did KBB. I...

I'm paying double for my electricity bill since last month, am I doing something wrong?

I completely agree. I've noticed that my vehicle energy costs are 30% of what they were with my previous ICE-Age car.

I'm paying double for my electricity bill since last month, am I doing something wrong?

I don't know about your specific utility provider, but mine provides an EV owners rate plan. Basically, it's time-of-use with the lowest rate occurring from 11 PM to 7 AM on weekdays and 7 PM to 3 PM on weekends. It's a great deal for me at 12.5 cents/kWh. With the Tesla you can also easily...

Tesla’s Efficiency Edge Speaks Volumes For Its Engineering Lead

I solved my phantom drain problems by eliminating the use of third party apps and online software that checks on the vehicle too frequently, thus awakening its systems each time, thus draining the battery. Just use the Tesla app and you'll be fine. I now average about 1 mile/day of loss...

The Key to Autonomous Driving? An Impossibly Perfect Map

I completely agree with ewoodrick.. It's dealing with the unexpected that is challenging, but not impossible to overcome as autonomous cars develop and implement more and more sensors and acquired (AI experiences) skills at handling emergencies, erratic drivers in surrounding vehicles, unsafe...

My silky smooth 320 mile road trip with almost 100% AP control

Great chronicle, Cameron.. Thanks so much. So, I've only had my AP2.5 MS since the end of Aug '18, so I haven't taken a long trip yet. I'm curious how the auto-steering "nag" worked for you. In my shorter trips, I'm not too pleased with having to wiggle the wheel or fight against how the car...

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

Hi David, Thanks for your comments. I didn't know how to setup % charge, just in mileage units, i.e., unless I use the "Remote S" iPhone App. The onboard monitor's "charging" screen only provides the charging units in miles. However, thanks to your comment, I realized that you can change the...

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

I'd like to be able to: 1) Pause Navigation 2) Use voice commands to have my text or email messages read to me and to respond via voice-to-text. 3) Stream movies for my passenger on the lower half of the Model S Center Screen 4) Set a shutoff time for charging in case my charge rate isn't high...
