I remember something did go "clunk" with crazy amount of milling and no movement. I'm starting to wonder if the DU was bad too.

I was thinking of spending a little more for a new DU, but I'm a bit short on time and I hope the RDU is somewhat good.

I thought the earlier estimate says that the half shafts are in good condition, but somehow they decided to give me one for free. Maybe I'm reading it wrong? 🤔

Found the culprit. I feel more okay paying for this than typical, "corrosion". Definitely don't want limp mode.

I'll ask for the harness. I'm just wondering where I can take this to get inspected in Bellevue, WA.

For my current out of warranty DU replacement, they have provided me with a model 3 for a week so far and I got a new BATTERY,90KWH,SX(1014116-00-B) 2 months before my warranty expired. Perhaps I'm the unreasonable one?

Thanks @sorka as I'll request for that first thing on Monday when the service advisor is in. Appreciate any other tips you may have for them to accept that these are not needed.

Reply from Tesla SC when I asked to take a look.

Concluded with my Tesla service center that I needed a new DU as they found that the passenger side has metal shavings indicating that the pinion gear has been compromised. Okayed original repair bill for $6600, but now I need a new harness due to corrosion and now it's $8,475. I can bypass...

We argued for a bit and the Service Advisor stated I would be on the hook for the SD card if it doesn't work. Lo and behold, replacing the navigation SD card worked perfectly. Funny how the Service Advisor and Technician didn't read the service bulletin for this item.

Just want to say a quick thanks for this thread as I leveraged it to help a Service Advisor and Technician when MCU2 was the only solution. Noticed something was fishy when they mentioned, "something is wrong with the system and we need to upgrade your MCU".
