My 2010 Roadster 2.5 has always displayed 15 amps when plugged in and not charging. To change the charging amps from the VDS it needs to not be plugged in (charge door closed) or actively charging. Once you set the charging amps while unplugged, it remembers those settings for that GPS...

I would upload a vehicle log to Tesla and see what thier reply is. If there is a motor fan problem and it goes unchecked it could lead to PEM damage.

They are still waiting for a replacement PEM and cable. They showed me that with a leaf blower I can blow air into the vents that are in back, below and on either side of the license plate to help clear the air flow. The SC also offered a PEM cleaning more frequently, not a full annual service...

I just had the same issue with my 2010 Roadster, only this is the second time it happened in the last 14 months. The cable bundle that burned was connecting the motor fans to the PEM (it's behind the panel in the trunk). The connector to the PEM burned out and the PEM was damaged. Not sure...
