Engineering Explained- wheel size effects on electric cars

Or even better, use a really good CFD simulation software package to capture turbulent flows around the wheels. You'd need to have the wheels spinning in the wind tunnel, and measuring flow details at that scale is very difficult. Here's a link about CFD software and Model S wheel aerodynamics...

    Unexpected Tesla Fans

What is it with those Prius drivers? The only rude treatment I've ever received while out in my Model 3 (in Sonoma County, CA) was getting flipped off by a Prius driver at a traffic light. I assumed it was one of the following: 1) He was having a bad day, or 2) He was jealous because he was...

    Roadside Assistance - First Experience

I'm just waiting for one of the Tesla aftermarket parts companies to sell a good set of curb feelers for Tesla...

    My Tesla Model 3P @ 6 months - the HORROR!!! ;-)

It's absolutely horrible. I have nothing to complain or whine about on the blogs. I would like to see a software update where they add an automatic volume control to the sound system. There is at least one microphone inside the car; surely that can be used to monitor interior ambient noise...

    Tesla Sentry Mode in Action

Looks like the Mercedes pulled into a vacant parking space next to your car to break in. I'm now having second thoughts about parking away from the crowds in parking lots to avoid door dings, etc. Now I'm going to park in really tight spaces to make it harder for thugs to work the lot like this.

Debunking Audi's ‘sustained power beats top power’

Electrek did an article about a year ago on expected battery life based on data gathered to date, both for Tesla and Nissan. https://electrek.co/2018/04/14/tesla-battery-degradation-data/ The title was "Tesla battery degradation at less than 10% after over 160,000 miles, according to latest...

Afraid of loosing Aero efficiency vs Cool looking Wheels?

I actually googled the bad roads topic. Here's an article that ranks worst roads in major metro areas - SF-Oakland area wins by a large margin - Does your city have the worst roads in America? Then I drilled down a little further to learn than Sonoma County has the worst roads in the SF-O area...

Afraid of loosing Aero efficiency vs Cool looking Wheels?

I'd be interested to know if anyone has done a similar aerodynamic efficiency comparison using the 18" OEM wheels with and without the wheel covers on. I'm planning a road trip from Sonoma County to LA soon, and was debating if I should put the (IMO ugly) wheel covers back on. I pretty much...

Model 3 - The Amazing, the not-so-amazing and the ugly!

I agree with everything you say, except the ugly. I very quickly got used to seeing the speed and other notifications just to the right. I previously had an Audi A6, which had a plusher interior and much more cluttered dash - but it wasn't any more comfortablew than the Model 3.

2019.8.3 Stronger Regen Over 30 MPH

Has anyone tested and compared regen feel of AWD vs. RWD? It seems to me that with 2 motors absorbing regen energy, one would feel stronger deceleration in AWD compared to RWD.

Does anyone else have zero interest in EAP?

I did the trial, and it worked very well - with a couple of exceptions - on a divided highway with traffic. When a motorcycle passed me by splitting the lane between me and the car to my left, the cruise control was canceled. In a Tesla or any EV with regen, that's like hitting the brakes. So...

Why do the front heated seat controls deserve so much room on the UI?

My experience has been that the seats heat up really fast - no pre-heating necessary!
