GFCI Breaker is Code for EV Charging

We had a high-quality 60 amp GFCI installed by professionals (just for the conventional NEMA 14-50, not the Tesla charger) and have had some nuisance trips. Sometimes it happens and sometimes not, no consistency. The electrician said he didn't know why GFCI was required - our breaker is indoors...

I see so many model Y owners having issues. Would you buy again?

After seven months with a Y there are some things I don't like such as the relatively stiff suspension, no easy Apple music integration, the disappearance of the map in mountain areas outside cell range, tiny screen fonts, and some clumsy controls. Those are far outweighed by the electric...

    A mouse ate my Tesla

OP here: I simply sprayed the stuff behind the Frunk that was reachable: hoses, battery, etc. The smell dissipates quickly so I don't know if it really helps. There is a flat area to the rear of either side of this compartment where I tucked rodent-repelling odor bags. (Called Fresh Cab.) And I...

    A mouse ate my Tesla

An update on my earlier report that a rodent - I found a dead mouse in the driveway - had chewed a hole in my battery coolant line, causing a warning on the screen that the Model Y needed service. Systems such as auto steer, music, navigation, heat, and the ability to charge began to fail. When...

    Thanks for this!

    A mouse ate my Tesla

My 5-month-old Tesla Y started going haywire when it lost its battery coolant. Turns out that mice had nested behind the Frunk and chewed through the coolant hose. I could drive the car to the Service Center, but non-warranty repair is a twenty dollar hose and more than $700 in labor, plus two...

    Understanding Range

I like my Tesla but I'm puzzled why the company never weighs in on threads like this, which illustrate owner confusion or uncertainty. Why not (a) brag about a range increase in a press release and get free publicity and (b) explain to owners what they actually did. The eternal cryptic mystery...

Handgun Safe options for Model Y

Oh my. Uhm, what would Jesus do? Carrying a gun around makes you braver/dumber than you need to be. There are gun accidents. If you ever use it, even if you "win" you open yourself up to a nightmare of criminal and civil litigation. I'd leave the gun home. Or not buy it in the first place.

which paint color is holding up the best?

Happy with blue so far but only 2,000 miles. Really sharp with two coats of spray on, wipe off ceramic. (Turtle Wax product.)

    Platform bike rack

We use the Thule tilt rack and it works well. The tilt allows easy access to the hatch and it has built in locks to prevent theft of the bikes or racks. I think it cost about $500 but as usual, you get what you pay for. It has worked on three different vehicles.

    Small Screen Font on UI

Another older Tesla driver who agrees with the OP. I can control font size on my computer. Why not on the Tesla screen? Huge amount of real estate, and teeny tiny time and temperature.

    Cheap tool for hitch cover

I found a paint can opener works well to pry off the plastic hitch cover. Still need to move it along the upper seams to release the various catches but otherwise, presto.

Another happy Tesla customer, so far

Well, that's weird. Yes, June 21, nine days ago.

Another happy Tesla customer, so far

With all the worries posted here about Tesla quality control, I'll mention that I picked up my first Tesla, a blue long-range Model Y, in Lynnwood, WA on June 28 and didn't find any fit and finish flaws. Beautiful car. So far everything is working just fine, and the vehicle is a revelation. I...
