    From Y to Audi e-tron: a Comparison

We're a retired couple who decided to consolidate from two cars to one EV. Since my wife didn't like the lack of physical controls and minimalism of my 2020 Model Y, we're trying a 2024 Audi Q4 e-tron - the all-wheel drive version - instead. We don't road trip much and do 99 percent of our...

Enhanced autopilot worth $6k seems to be useless as summon feature is blocked off

No. If you must try FSD, rent it for a month.

    Only 154 miles; break failure!?

    It's "brake."

2022 Y has a bunch of issues: cameras, cruise control, lane keeping.

Low winter sun can trigger a camera blinded message. Just ignore it. Dirt on the upper center windshield, where sensors are, can fool car into thinking spot is rain. See if cleaning it solves your problem.

    Charging problems (240 and 110)

A 30 amp breaker might be too small, (?) since my Tesla draws more than that with a 50 amp. Also agree with GFCI causing problems. Tesla advised its charger in the car has its own that can conflict with a home breaker, so I replaced mine with a regular breaker. That solved my own problem of...

Wipers turn on while on Autopilot

I had tree sap where cameras are in upper center windshield, which the car interpreted as rain. When I cleaned it off the problem went away. Auto wipers in general still work poorly though. They won’t slow down in light rain.

    Model Y battery coolant leak

I had a coolant leak soon after purchase caused by rodents chewing the line. So that's one possibility.

Survey: is the model Y the “perfect” all around EV?

After more than two years of Y ownership, I'd say it's a very good car but far from perfect. It could be quieter at speed. The suspension is stiff. The minimizing of controls is too extreme: just a few more buttons and knobs, please, for wipers, glove box. The screen fonts are too small. The...

    A mouse ate my Tesla

I lifted the plastic cover just behind the frunk (it gives access to the 12 volt battery, etc) and tucked them into the right and left corners of that compartment. Not ideal, but there is nothing hot or moving there.

    V11 UI and User Manual

Thanks for this. The newer manual doesn't seem to have guidelines for how much to charge daily, such as "don't go above 90 percent." Or did I miss this somewhere?

    Mileage

If you started in cold weather, the car is using energy to warm the battery as well as warm the car. Throw in a hill, or a slick surface, and you can use more than the expected miles on short errands. If the car is plugged in, you can use the app to warm the climate in advance, which also warms...

Just sold my Model Y - Parting thoughts

Another Y owner in agreement with your pros and cons. Improving the stiff suspension would be the one thing that might tempt me to trade my 2020 for a newer model. Another pro/con is the sales and service model. No dealership shenanigans but one pays the ever-shifting msrp with limited...

    Questions from a newb

On 5: electrician initially installed a GFI (ground fault interrupter) 50 amp circuit for my NEMA 14-50 plug but this interfered with the GFI built into the Tesla charger in the car. The result was a nuisance trip at times, halting charging. I replaced the circuit breaker with a conventional one...

Made In China Model Y has 15.5 Lithium battery to replace 12V lead-acid

So can I eventually replace my 2020 Y lead acid battery with the new Tesla lithium?

Wiper Blade Replacement Tesla Model Y

I tried a third party blade set that hung up on the lip of my frunk so I bought the OEM Model 3 blades from Tesla, $50 for the pair. Those of course work on the Y without modification. The Tesla site is awkward in that I had to put in two separate orders for two single blades, selecting the...
