Wiki Consolidated eMMC Thread (MCU repair) (Black Center Screen)

Just got the e-mail, I was one of the people who had Tony replace the eMMC (just few months ago) and was contacted by one of the NHTSA investigators... glad to hear they're finally taking action on this! (Though sounds like I'll have to wait until Feb 2021 before knowing for sure if I'll get...

    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

The MCU on my 2013 MS stop working about a week ago, and I just stumbled upon this thread. Now I'm debating whether I should: 1) Take it to Tesla and pay out of pocket for an MCU1 replacement, and hope that it's later recalled and get reimbursed. 2) Go to ev-fixme for a 3rd party repair, which...

Multiple rear-facing car seats in back of Model S?

Yeah, probably the biggest problem I've had putting a car seat in and out is the sheer weight of the thing, and the top tether anchor. I'm thinking a lightweight booster with a back, using car's seat belt instead of harness, may be the best choice for him, just have to find one narrow enough.

Multiple rear-facing car seats in back of Model S?

Thanks JPUConn, yes, that's the basic setup I'm thinking. Are you using latch for the outboard seats, or seatbelts for all three? Curious, when you got the Radian RXT did you also look at the Clek? They seem very similar, about the same price, both have very positive reviews.

    Sell MS for M3?

I'd stick with the S. You've already taken the big depreciation hit on your Model S, jumping into the M3 means you're going to take another one. And for a much smaller vehicle, with similar battery / range, and less screen real estate... If you just want extended warranty, or more range /...

Multiple rear-facing car seats in back of Model S?

I have a 2014 Model S (not new gen seats), and three kids: a 5 year old, and 8 month old twins, that are outgrowing their infant car seats. I'm thinking of getting two of the Clek Fflo seats (seems more compact than the Foonf) but I haven't seen anyone install two both rear-facing (and I haven't...

    Show off your aftermarket wheels.

@DIL It would be hard to say, because so many things have changed at once: going from a non-staggered 19x8 to a staggered 20x9 and 20x10.5(!!!) and the old Goodyear Eagle's had about 20K miles on them. Stepping up to 20" rims, I was expecting a bit more harshness, but honestly, I didn't notice...

    Show off your aftermarket wheels.

Unless it starts snowing ;) I dunno, I'm from Ohio originally and I never get why people in Cali start freaking out when it starts raining. When I was living in Seattle and there was an unexpected snow storm one year, I saw people abandoning their SUV's by the road, deeming the unsalted roads...

WTS: 19" OEM Classic 5-Spoke Wheels / Tires / TPMS - Cupertino Pick Up

Also, the tire info above should read "Goodyear Eagle RS-A P245 / 45R19", the "45R18" was a typo above.

Be careful when getting a tint!

I've used Mr. Tint for several cars, and while their work is OK, I wouldn't take my Model S (or any other high end cars) there, because I'm too worried something like what OP reported would happen. There's definitely better shops, like OC Detailing, or Premier (where I had my done). It is true...

    Show off your aftermarket wheels.

Just had these done: Vorsteiner V-FF 103 in carbon graphite finish, with Michelin Sport Pilot 4 S. I went from stock 19's to a staggered more aggressive setup: 20 x 9 (front) and 10.5 (rear). Surprisingly, doesn't seem to ride any stiffer than before. Calipers painted in multi-coat red, to match...

After market wheels and lugnuts question.

You'll likely need new lug nuts (emphasis on nuts, what you have are wheel bolts, which aren't compatible with the Tesla). The OEM lug nuts are conical, but have a large shoulder, meaning they're too wide to fit in the openings on most after market wheels. Look for a bulge conical / tapered type...

WTS: 19" OEM Classic 5-Spoke Wheels / Tires / TPMS - Cupertino Pick Up

Sorry, forgot to put price: $500 for everything, local pickup preferred.

WTS: 19" OEM Classic 5-Spoke Wheels / Tires / TPMS - Cupertino Pick Up

Changed to new wheels, so these are now for sale. Wheels are the classic "spoke" wheels with Goodyear Eagle-RS-A P245 / 45R18 front and rear (non-staggered). These are the originals that came with my 2014 Model S from the factory, removed just this week at 22K miles. Tires are 3/32 on the rear...
