Small dent: Can’t un-see this now!

Thank you - I am learning from you and another reply that a new panel isn't a great idea. Now that I understand the explanation I think I agree. Especially if their are paint-free dent repair options. I don't even need this to be perfect, but if they can reduce the visibility of the problem...

Small dent: Can’t un-see this now!

Thanks you. This is a totally new area for me so I have no experience with little dents. It's protruding slightly not an inwards dent.

Small dent: Can’t un-see this now!

I just got home from my scheduled Model Y delivery. The car is awesome. But I now see a very small dent in the panel right behind the headlight. It’s small, but it’s SUPER obvious in light and I can’t un-see this. I hate to be that guy, but this should not be considered acceptable. What have...

2014 Model S 85 with NEW battery and NEW drive unit $48k Canadian

Selling in Ontario, Canada (Durham region) This beautiful, low-mileage 2014 Tesla Model S85 drives like the day I brought it home. NEW BATTERY AND MOTOR. Tesla replaced both my drive unit (motor) and my 85 kWh battery pack under warranty in early 2022. This is an awesome benefit for you. The...

Electrical warnings - Car Won’t Start

They replaced the drive unit under warranty. Apparently some kind of cover on the unit was cracked, and moisture got in and caused corrosion. $12k part. No charge. 2 months later same warning. Turns out it was the battery control module in the battery. They wrecked the seal on my battery...

    Privately Selling a Vehicle Advice

I'm in the exact same situation. Last car I sold was about $6k, and was 13 years old. Now I'm selling a Model S that I figure is worth closer to $50k Canadian and I have no clue what the process should look like. I figure it either has to be a certified cheque, or more safe than this, a wire...

How to best sell Model Y privately in Ontario

I appreciate this thread, since I'm taking delivery of a new Model Y next week and have to sell my 2014 Model S 85. I have no idea where to find out fair pricing. There are not too many for sale, and the specs are all so different it's hard to do that intuitive multivariate analysis to figure...

2014 Model S - Continued high voltage problems

Another update: Tesla had ordered a new circuit board for the battery management system (BMS), which is inside the battery. They suspected corrosion on the existing board due to the battery failing the soap bubble leak test. I guess they opened up my battery and destroyed the seal, and so they...

2014 Model S - Continued high voltage problems

Brief update here. It looks like I really did have 3 separate issues triggering HVIL warnings. The first time the cover to the drive unit was cracked, and water had been getting in, causing corrosion. That's why they gave me a new drive unit. Full warranty coverage. The second time they...

2014 Model S - Continued high voltage problems

Quick update: The alerts cleared temporarily so I could drive the car to the service center. While driving the alerts came back 3-4 times and cleared briefly each time. Definitely another intermittent issue

High Voltage Interlock Loop (HVIL) Issue - Questions

That makes it very clear! Thank you. I didn’t know this.

2014 Model S - Continued high voltage problems

Ok, I don’t exactly know how to test the battery but I pulled my nosecone and threw a multimeter on the battery terminals. I’m getting 12.7VDC. That seems normal, right?

2014 Model S - Continued high voltage problems

Would a 12V battery issue trigger HVIL warnings, though? I'm not debating, I'm just asking, as I currently don't understand how that makes sense, but I'm not en electrical engineer so I may just lack some knowledge here.

High Voltage Interlock Loop (HVIL) Issue - Questions

I'm dealing with the same problem now. 3rd time in 3 months. First Tesla diagnosed it as a drive unit problem, second time (about 8 weeks later) a bad connector pin, and this time who knows. I can't drive it yet. Intermittent, though, so hopefully I will be able to start it soon. This can't...
