Is level 1 charging a viable long-term option?

I have regularly charged using a 115-125V 15 Amp outlet. At 115V it’s 3 miles per hour and at 125V it’s 4 miles per hour. However, do not have any other load on the circuit. If the garage door is on the same circuit unplug the car temporarily. If you want plug in a saw, leaf blower, etc...

How to charge when leaving Tesla at airport -- want to be polite

Charging with Level II for overnight or a weekend would be acceptable. What would be better is that airports should install Level I (120V) chargers or outlets for longer term parking. Tampa International Remote and Economy parking has 120V chargers - it’s assumed the cars are parked for an...

Out of Warranty 2013 MS 85 w BMS_u029: Should I save $510 and go straight to a 3rd party SC?

Agree considering the problems owners have had with refurbished battery packs. A new pack should outlast its warranty.

CCS Combo 1 Adapter and DC Charging

The Tesla Chademo Adapter was useful and in actual use not that much slower than a Supercharger with older 125 kW Teslas. Using 50 kW Chademo charger there would be no charge taper until just before shut-off. A very useful alternative.

Out of Warranty 2013 MS 85 w BMS_u029: Should I save $510 and go straight to a 3rd party SC?

The question to ask is not ‘what is the car’s value?’ but rather how much do I like the car and how long I want to keep it? If you like the car and plan to keep it long term than a new battery with a 4 year warranty can be justified even future repair costs for other items. But if you’re only...

Running out of Charge and Dead Battery

At some time all EV vehicles will experience low charge battery due to weather, terrain, or speed. The solution to get to the next charging station is to slow down. The point to slow down is when reported range is within 10% greater than distance to the charger. The slower you drive the less...

Battery Connection Moisture Causing BMS Error

For three weeks occasionally when shutting off my 2013 Model S Performance the “Car May not restart” would pop up. Then after upgrading to the latest software version the I got two errors, “ Car May not restart” and BMS w026. In addition upper power limit was lowered and regenerative brakes...

    Politics - Quarantine Thread

Elon moves the headquarters to a state where you can't buy a Tesla unless you do it on-line and for the foreseeable future will remain with these restrictions. He moves to a state where Governor Abbot has stated that companies moving into Texas are de facto approving of Texas Republican social...

Poll: Extended Service Agreement Poll- good idea?

Buy it! For my 2013 Model S P85 my last service (June 2021) had an estimate of $2200 - replacing 12V battery, water in tail light, metal clanking sound from rear axle, stuck side view mirror. My cost $200. Since having the extended warranty I've saved over $8000 which included a drive unit...

    Metal Clanking Sound Rear Axle

My 2013 Model S P85 developed a loud metal clanking sound when going over bumps from the left rear wheel. The sound is best described as a piece of sheet metal hitting another piece of hard metal. The surprising service fix was replacing the left wheel parking brake. The service center also...
