Anyone gone from Model 3 to Model S?

It comes down to personal preference and needs. We just gave our 2018 model 3 to another family member and got a 2024 model S. Did it for comfort (no comparison - ride is awesome) and space (no longer "sharing" the armrest is nice). Range was a modest consideration, but with superchargers...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Ordered Jan 11, delivered March 5. Had to wait for them to reprint the Munroney data to hand to me. Absolutely gorgeous look and in perfect condition. No flaws or defects noted. FSD transferred from my Model 3 while I was still in the delivery lot. firmware 2024.2.7 Ceramic coating in the...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Decided to go to the dealership where my delivery will happen (someday). Found my car sitting out back. No Munroney sticker. Wandered inside to talk to the delivery group - no way around the sticker issue - they claimed that "today was the day" that it would be resolved. Not holding my breath..

    FSD Transfer Offer

One more note - you are not required to trade in your current vehicle that has FSD - it is a simple software transfer irrespective of trade-in, sale or retention statue of the current vehicle.

    FSD Transfer Offer

I just completed all of the forms and contracts to transfer FSD from my model 3 to a new model S. Forms and request must be initiated prior to delivery of the new vehicle (in addition to the delivery requirement prior to end of March).

No storm watch events this year...

Activated yesterday for me - have also had transient outages as massive pieces of the grid failed nearby. (Grid failures are now greater than 24 hour duration with utility making no rational estimates of time to repair).

Taking the CA DMV License Test with a Tesla

My grandson took his drivers test in a Bolt EV 6 days ago. It is the only car he has ever driven (we gave it to him as a present for his 18th birthday). He routinely uses the regenerative braking and one pedal driving. Passed with no comment or issues. Location - SF Bay Area.

7.2 kw system generates only 4 kw

My 10 kW system is not inverter limited and faces two planes - WSW and SSW - on different inverters. Peak production on an ideal day (cool breeze and summer sun) can occasionally produce 10 kW - but that is transient and not sustained. I have seen 11.1 a couple of times with "cloud fringing"...

Brand new Powerwall owner questions (mostly UPS related)

Yeah - it is possible to find old shelf stock via EBay but there does not appear to be any supply of newly manufactured units.

PW owners, summer is coming/here. What is your reserve percentage?

You can charge from the grid in California ? My understanding is that the CPUC explicitly prohibits this except when Storm Watch is active for an event. I have seen some transient grid pulls once I activated the setting, but they have been very small and very brief - not at all anything that...

Brand new Powerwall owner questions (mostly UPS related)

I actually have a mixed solar setup. The original install is Sunpower panels with SunnyBoy central inverter (installed 2007). Supplemental install of Sunpower panels with microinverters (2016) and Powerwalls in early 2019. The APC and Cyberpower units did indeed run out of juice during an...

PW owners, summer is coming/here. What is your reserve percentage?

30% year round. Haven't used a single kWHr of peak or mid-peak from PG&E with that setting.

    solar roof cleaning

Have 15 years of meticulous records on my system. Live in an area with a lot of agricultural dust (vineyards) and the panels are visibly dirty pretty quickly after cleaning. I generally see about a 5% improvement in output (measured either as peak kW or total kWh's on day before and day after...
