The catch is that construction, once it starts, usually goes fairly quickly, often just a few weeks. But then it is not uncommon for everything to sit there not powered up because the local power utility has to actually provide the power, inspect the site, and sign off on the installation...

Get Tesla's Chademo adapter ($450). There are third party DC fast chargers in Ft. Dodge and Early (plus Emmetsburg and Sheldon). They're not as fast as SuperChargers, but plenty fast enough to make getting from Waterloo to Sioux Falls stress free.

Yes, I do wish they had put it on the other side of the west entrance. That parking area only gets used at Xmas time, there's no traffic going through that area normally, etc. Probably would have been more expensive though because they would have had to run power lines under the driveway.
