Looking for Roadster Hardtop Storage Bag

I presume this would work for the Visium "glass top" as well, yes? If so, interested. Is it something that can be hung on a wall, or...? I'm getting tired of using the plywood box that the Visium came in. How much $$$?

    CAN bus

Have you rebooted (power cycled) the VMS? You mention the ESS plug, but what about the 12 battery?

Recommended by Tesla Service Center to Charge Roadster in Range mode to optimise the battery

Hi Hank, 240v is generally better than 120v because in the summer it allows the car to actively cool the battery (run the A/C). The A/C takes too much power to be run with 120v input. 240v is also a bit more efficient. For the same power, the higher current on the 120v side of the charger...

New Roadster 4.0 Battery developement with Model S cells

Will the Model-S based one get to any sort of distribution? It would be nice to have an alternative to what Tesla is (slowly) providing. Chasing the latest battery technology makes for a never-ending academic research project. Very worthwhile, but a different objective.

    Replacing Tesla Roadster 12V battery

The couple of take-aways from my thread were that one does not have to remove the wheel in order to get to the battery (though it helps if one is on the smaller side), and that the battery is kept at a constant 13.8v by the car's "charging" system. Other than when there's a major system fault...

Cold weather seems to limit power although the battery is warm - I`m at a loss...

Mostly in the hotter time of the year, but any time really. It seems to be triggered by a temperature change more than the absolute ambient temp. As things get hot the sensor contact seems to kind of "scrape", causing the intermittent (and by the laws-of-thermodynamics impossible) temperature...

Cold weather seems to limit power although the battery is warm - I`m at a loss...

Presume you've pulled the logs. Anything interesting in there? I have a sort-of similar situation, though mostly in hot weather, where the car intermittently goes into Power Limited mode because it thinks the motor is overheating. The cause is that Sensor #2 is sending bogus (impossibly high)...

Charging with Tesla “Universal” Wall Connector?

I expect it will work just fine. I've been using one of the OpenEVSE chargers. I think it was this one: Discontinued May 2018 - v4 Standard or similar. 50 amp circuit, charging the car at up to 40 amps though I usually dial it down to 24 amps just to be nice to everything. It's been in...

    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

I went to a local tire shop (Les Schwab), and they ordered them from Continental. As for jacking up the car, I spoke with the shop manager and let them know that they must only use a floor jack, and only in the specific jack points. Failure to do so could total the car. That got their...

Roadster 2.5 double DIN radio options

If the in-dash unit is otherwise working for you (radio, media player, navigation, etc.), another option for speed is to get an OVMS v3 and an OBD-II HUD (Head-up display). The v3 includes a process that can create a virtual OBD-II port, feeding it from the Roadster's real-time metrics.

    TPMS sensor battery failed

{bump} Has anybody used these sensors in the Roadster? If so, how'd they work out?

    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

Probably best NOT to go with that combo. You're mixing summer and all-season tires, which is not recommended. That said, my car came from its previous owner (who lived just down the peninsula from you) with the Advan's on the front and Michelin Sport AS on the rear, and never experienced a...

    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

They're just more of the same bolts used on the rest of the wheel. I got a set of 4 directly from the local Tesla SC. This was several years ago (back when Tesla still acknowledged that the Roadster even exists). They were something like $36, and they replaced the set for free in a quick...

    2.0 / 2.5 Roadster / Roadster Sport Tire Thread

I have the Extremes, and like them. They perform very well, and seem to be lasting reasonably well. I don't worry about driving in a little rain, but if it's really nasty out I take a different car, just because. The DWS's should last longer, if that's a concern, but when I was looking I...

    TPMS sensor battery failed

An update... Checked with several tire stores about programming Shawn's recommended sensors. Nope; the shops only have equipment to program the ones they sell. No go there. Two shops show the "OEM" Baolong sensor for the 2010 Roadster, and give instructions for how to tell the car how to do...
