Truckload of Teslas in the Olympia area?

Ha! That would have required locating my phone and doing an over-the-shoulder shot while traveling in the opposite direction. I wasn't quite sure what I was seeing until it was too late. Seeing a Model S around here is not that uncommon; even in the land of log trucks and muddy pickups. You just...

Truckload of Teslas in the Olympia area?

Anybody else see a truckload of Teslas today in the Olympia to Centralia area? I ran by one headed West down Hwy 12 about 7 miles from I-5. I was headed east and saw the nose cone of the lead car and as I passed, I saw the whole car hauler. Unless I'm seeing things, but I have no idea why they...

    Dodge Pick-Up PHEV

Why waste the bed space with batteries? Ford managed to keep a functional truck with the Ranger EV. I got to pull the battery pack out of one a couple years ago. Tested all 25 Panasonic NiMH batteries and put it all back together. Would love to see the range if somebody ever sets one of those up...

Please don't do this...(park blocking multiple Supercharger spots)

The Centralia Supercharger is just a parking lot. There is another row of regular parking spaces across from the chargers that back up to the grass bank that holds up the highway. As someone else mentioned, they could have parked diagonal in the cross-hatched area of the last stall. Worst case -...

Will Model X styling be dated by the time it arrives?

I know the production design has yet to be unveiled, but how much do you think it will change? Should Tesla lead the next styling phase or play it safe? Hyundai seem to have introduced the "free form wave" design that some others have moved towards. Just look at a Ford Escape. It changed...

    Supercharger - Edison, NJ

I fully expect the Supercharger rollout to continue as planned. It was indeed a reference to Tesla setting up shop in Edison. Just thought it was a little comical.

    Supercharger - Edison, NJ

    Irony? Anybody?

    Two brakes per rear rotor

In the event of a catastrophic brake fluid leak, you would still have half your brakes. The master cylinder and resevior are divided into two seperate circuits for this reason. RWDs are usually seperated into front/rear systems; FWD/AWD have a diagonal split -LF/RR on one circuit and RF/LR on...

Checked Alignment: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Were the readings taken at the "low" setting? I would highly recommend loading the vehicle with some dummy weight to simulate the passengers during alignment too. - Scratch that - ride height sensors. I would have them print results for multiple ride height settings. - - - Updated - - - On an...

Checked Alignment: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Those tires are disgusting. I would have hoped to see more of a wedge pattern with the specs listed. The wear from the second rib out is not so bad. I'm starting to wonder if there is more of a dynamic alignment issue vs. static. Is something moving under load? Those tires look like they were...

Checked Alignment: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Wow, that degrees/minutes thing is hurting my head. So used to 100ths of degrees; 60ths just don't compute. Like mixing decimals and fractions in my brain. :crying: Were the tires measured on both inside and outside edges?

Checked Alignment: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

BMWs were actually the vehicles that I noticed the correlation between large negative camber numbers and higher toe-in specs, generally .40-.45 degrees if I remember. Most road-going grocery getters tend to be .15-ish total toe and -.8 to -1.4 rear camber, which leads me to believe that some...

Checked Alignment: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Well that's a generalized statement if I've ever seen one. I, for one, was never afraid to align anything and enjoyed a challenge as long as I was given the proper amount of time to do it. And they sure don't spend 8 hours a day for a week in class going over alignment theory and customer...

Checked Alignment: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

I would never trust a factory alignment. It SHOULD be good, but who knows. Many vehicles have inserts to lock the adjustments in place at the factory. That would work if every panel gets stamped the exact same size and every spot weld is exactly the same. The body should be + or - 3mm at every...

Checked Alignment: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Thanks for the response. My next question was going to be if you drive in the left lane, so that's answered. For Gizmotoy's question about how long the alignment lasts - it should be a long time, but we always recommended having it checked a couple times a year. That may be a bit much, but it...
