Why you should not buy a Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

    1. Pollution 2. No refuel at home 3. No over the air update means no GUI refresh + features + all the reasons people mentioned above !

Blue Origin - Booster Reuse - New Shepard

SpaceX is landing on floating pad to save fuel. It will need more fuel (more weight) to get rocket back to land.

Rear Camera, Can it be kept clean?

Range Rover Velar has rear camera washer jet. Just like some cars have headlights washer. Just seen the vehicle yesterday, missed taking that photo. Will take one if I visit the car again. With Teslas (EVs), all comes down to saving all possible drops of energy. And this might be one reason it...

Using Tesla car as a Powerwall - Is it possible?

These kits turn your Prius into an emergency generator I also remember Google had done this experiment of using multiple Prius cars to occasionally supply grids. So should be possible with Tesla too with some additional hardware.

Older Teslas limited to 90kW Supercharging

Hi, How much the pack size? Just to do some simple calculations. My thoughts are .. to reach 80% of charge in 1 hour for a smaller battery pack will require for example say 90kwh .. but to reach same 80% in hour for a larger battery pack it will require 90kwh+ of charging rate. So for your...

An Update to our Supercharging Program

Enjoy !! Around AP2 announcement, I read existing owners were worried about their resale value. I guess this will boost morale of many. I feel existing customers who have largely helped Tesla grow will always be respected.

    Unveiling on Oct 17th

Me too surprised. I thought LIDAR is a MUST for Level 5 because it can see in snow and rain. Camera can get reduced capability from rain and dust. But guessing .. because LIDAR needs to protrude from the body to scan it makes them ugly on the car and also increases drag. And that is why they...

Should I charge to 100% (night before trip) if my first supercharger stop is only 80 miles away?

-- Little impact (not NO impact) -- Whenever is in context 1st charging instance being at home -- Nobody seems to be scared here, unlike you.

How was increased regenerative braking achieved with 8.0?

You are absolutely right .. its more like computer on wheels. I see huge change in the industry .. the conventional mechanical parts like body, transmission are mere hardware with less importance, the main importance is now given to software .. traditional business generated revenue from selling...

Should I charge to 100% (night before trip) if my first supercharger stop is only 80 miles away?

Slow charging is better for battery's long life. Supercharges charge it quickly so IMO it would be good to skip Supercharges wherever possible ! (In your case, the 1st charging instance)

How was increased regenerative braking achieved with 8.0?

It is software setting. Example - if 20% brake pedal press OR accelerator pedal release, generate 150 amps of current (there is actually a map corresponding to complete pedal position). This AMOUNT of current generation is actually hindrance to vehicle's kinetic energy i.e. regenerative braking...

Some exciting observations about the new Model S60 (software limited 75 kWh)

Battery capacity is 75kWh so charging 60kWh to 100% is anyways not charging to 100%, safe. You will not be able to charge to 100% if you upgrade to 75kWh !!

    Will a software-limited 70kWh battery enjoy less degradation than a 75kWh battery?

Charging 75kWh to 90% is same as software-limiting to 70kWh. Infact, 70kWh will have slightly more charging cycles per year as range is less.
