Anyone switching to a Rivian R1T after watching reviews?

Johnson City SC just celebrated grand opening yesterday (not Fredericsburg, but close).

    Who gets reservations filled first?

Dual motor first mostly due to new batteries needed for 500 mi. range of Tri-motor. Waiting for tri-motor and Texas direct sales hoping to pickup at factory.

Canyon carving set up? M3 LR AWD

My RWD LR Model 3 on MPP sport coil overs feels great on Old Spicewood Springs Rd. or Lime Creek Rd. near Austin. My prior cars are 6MT Sport package BMW 335i and 535i (still have as old BMW depreciation exceeds the grin factor and non-M BMWs no longer feel the road). The Model 3 both is more...

    4680 cell implications

I can easily see LFP being used for say the RWD CyberTruck where it’s lower density is not an issue in a ~half-capacity pack. Saves 4680 cells for Tri-motor and Semi.

    Opinions on Chill mode?

I used to use chill mode regularly around town, but don't so much any more except when I'm hypermiling on a longer leg between chargers. I would really appreciate if chill mode worked as it does for the first half of the throttle, but still allowed access to full performance when I floor it...

    Sound Deadening Model 3

I’m very interested. In traditional German cars, the lesser models (say 1/3-series, A/C-class, etc.) have notably less sound insulation than the intermediate and larger cars (say 5/7-series, E/S-class, etc.). I firmly believe this is part of the up sell and very frustrating as cars get larger...

Is FSD really worth the money?

I’m anxiously looking forward to the new FSD computer as I think much of the slow response of AP or NoA is due to reduced frame rates, resolution, and relatively deep processing pipelines with a neural net waiting for multiple frames to confirm/update its situational awareness. I also think much...

Don’t think much of these new stall designs

Good luck. Chill mode and drafting are your friend (one 244 mi journey in LR RWD model 3 in Missouri starting at 10 C declining to 0 C 30 mph headwind with sleet). Started with 97% supercharge and arrived with 3% and a newfound respect for range anxiety especially in/around Arkansas.

    Sports car enthusiast opinions wanted

I grew up driving Hondas and switched to BMWs in 2001 when I bought a used 2001 BMW 325i wagon (steptronic unfortunately). That was such a fantastic car, but I missed my manual transmission so in 2004 I flew to Germany and bought a modestly equipped BMW 525i sedan with 6MT and drove 50k miles on...

Trip report: Huntsville AL; Coffeyville KS; Richardson TX, and; home

Last fall I drove a LR Model 3 RWD from Nashvile, TN to Fayetteville, AR going via Sikeston, MO to Springfield, MO; it was a nail biter as I left Sikeston with 97% charge and 55-60 F temperature and drove against headwinds into 32 F spitting snow in Springfield arriving at the supercharger with...

    Upcoming changes to Model 3

If you have an iPhone, I found out the hard way that USB splitters power port will not charge an iPhone. I ended up buying a 3-port USB 3 hub (found this one at Fry's: Fry's Electronics |). I installed a 256 GB music flash drive, a 32 GB dashcam flash drive and the Tesla-supplied IOS charging...

310 Miles Totally Possible for M3P

Be careful with these assumptions... This past November I took a road trip where I travelled in southern Missouri from the Tesla Supercharger near Sikeston, MO to the Tesla Supercharger at Springfield, MO, a distance of 241 miles. I drove between 60 and 70 mph in my long-range RWD with 19-inch...

The interior door latch that we shouldn't use??

I agree that Tesla did not make a good engineering decision with the front door releases. My elderly father with dementia will always go for the lever unless I press the button by reaching across before he thinks about pulling the lever. Fortunately, he doesn't tend to push the door open...

First road trip, trouble planning prefer non-interstates

Thanks, I had tried it but am just now playing with it; I suppose it comes down to expecting 250 miles to be a reasonably in-range segment for a road-trip, and finding that it may be just beyond capability. I normally drive +5 over the speed limit which is generally on the slower side of flowing...

First road trip, trouble planning prefer non-interstates

I'm planning on taking my first road trip in my LR RWD Model 3 leaving north Austin with 90% charge stopping in Huntsville, TX, Alexandria, LA, Jackson, MS, Tupelo, MS and arriving Nashville, TN. So far everything looks well in range with worst spread of 207 miles from Huntsville, TX to...
