No more radar means the car cannot see through fog?

This is one of the most comprehensive articles about the challenges of autonomous driving I’ve come across. While it does go into detail about the advantages of radar, the fundamental issue is measuring distance and interpreting the input images. Why LiDAR is Doomed

Cruise control - a mind of it's own. Anyone else have this experience?

Unfortunately this is the consequence of the lag time between road construction and map updates. Maps/GPS thinks the car on a feeder/side street with a lower speed limit. Because new highways are typically much straighter than the old road it can cause the system to jump back and forth between...

    Quietest 21" tires

They're direct with the Tesla OEM tires. I used them as my summer set up on my 2017 75D then I traded to a 2020 LR+. The car with 19" Eagle Touring (foam filled) is a silent dream but the 21" Michelins are so loud I only had them on my new car for a week and went back to the 19s. I may try...

    Quietest 21" tires

I love the way the 21" arachnids look on my car but I took them off after a week because the road noise with the Michelin Pilot Super Sports is unbearable. I'm willing to sacrifice grip/performance for better acoustics. Any suggestions on a quieter tire? A last resort would be to sell them...

    Model S Slid Away...

From the video it definitely looks like the car was sliding as opposed to rolling since the tire tracks are solid black (no tread marks). They should be able to pull logs to verify this. If that’s the case the car didn’t fail… it was in park with the wheels locked. Without more info on...

2021 MS LR+ rattling sound upon hard acceleration

My 2020 LR+ with 12k miles sounds exactly like that. I don’t drive it hard at all but it was a test drive car when I bought it with 1200 miles so it was most likely driven harder in the beginning. I have a service appt in a couple weeks so we’ll see how it gets addressed.

Should I buy a Plaid Model S or a Triple Motor CyberTruck?

Do you commonly ask complete strangers to make major decisions with no context? Let me try... I’m about to remodel my kitchen. Should I have the cabinets painted white or gray? Hopefully you can see that without the rest of the design concept it’s impossible to answer. On the other hand...

    upgraded rims?

You can typically get a better price from an inventory car than from a custom order. Because Tesla wheels are extremely expensive I recommend buying the stock 19” with all season tires. If you want bigger rims with high performance tires get aftermarket.

    Gear selector stalk rattles

Mine too... drives me crazy! Mine started rattling after the steering wheel was taken apart to fix the voice activation button so I need to have them fix it.

"not trying to be super profitable"

I think you're misunderstanding the intent. He's saying that rather than posting a large net margin (and paying huge taxes), the company is taking almost all their profits and reinvesting that money back into the company in the form of new factories, upgrading existing infrastructure, R&D, etc...

Killing the brand with poor service

I'm always floored when people think this is a surprise. TESLA IS A BABY compared to the other auto companies that have been doing this for 100 years. They are also the only manufacturer who direct sells and services their cars... all the other companies have 3rd party dealerships to take on...

2020.28.5 gets +5mph with traffic light

Just got this update last night and was so happy. That's the biggest reason I had the feature turned off and I bet they saw usage plummet and had to add it back in to have enough cars help train the neural net.

Front Bumper Seam Cracked/Ripped Near Emblem

I agree with above... this was likely due to impact.

Tesla’s Real Range Anxiety: The YTOD

Let me start by saying I'm also in the blistering Texas heat. I'm trying to wrap my head around the insistence that it be kept inside or a cover be put on it. Do you only drive it to places it can be parked indoors or out of the sun... of course not. If your destination requires it be parked...
