Wow. Looked like their were a few opportunities before it finally went. FSDb and Waymo UPLs might be a tie.

    Autonomous Car Progress

Interesting. I like their use of multiple sensors and goal of hands free driving. It looks like a small garage shop with a long road ahead. One online source says they have have a sizeable $157M debt owed to investors. They'll have to sell systems for well over $2k to break even. At least they...

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

Not a recommendation. Volatility might be a bit on the low side for premium selling so I might want to close it especially if I think the market/TSLA will continue down. One could keep the -P290 and short TSLA stock for a synthetic short call. Break even is around 301. It doesn't give as much...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

Aside from reducing production part count I'm not sure how one comes to that conclusion especially when the cameras aren't covering important bumper space around the car. Ultrasonic sensors are simple, reliable, inexpensive, provide good resolution at short distances, consumes low energy, no...

Tesla replacing ultrasonic sensors with Tesla Vision

Probably lots of reasons. One might be FSD transitioning from an academic-like research project to a production project needing to satisfy hundreds of thousands of drivers. It's all good fun doing research and teaching but he isn't wired for the stressors of FSD production. He can always come...

    FSD V11 Discussion - First Released 11/11/22 at 11:11PM - Maybe

It should be good fun seeing how V11 pans out. Fingers crossed there aren't a ridiculous number of regressions.

    Elon & Twitter

"Belief" might be the keyword there. I could always be wrong but thought I read somewhere "woke" was getting out of bed early and preparing yourself for the many opportunities that exist to anyone here but even more so for the economically and socially challenged. Maybe the crux is a belief in...

    Autonomous Car Progress

Nice. That's what's needed for the real world. I bet they also detect and slow for dips and speedbumps.

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

I think that was the plan but so far all thing 4680 haven't panned out. I think the team originally said there were potential risks for the 4680. Hopefully they get a handle on it before CT production.

Do you see a person approaching the Yellow Divider? FSD did!

For the first video FSD responded but lane adjustment appeared to happen after passing the pedestrian. I don't trust FSD with cross traffic similar to the last video. It frequently chokes on that scenario. Funny how release notes keep talking about sizeable kinematic improvements for cross flow...

How does dojo get the FSD training to my car? I don't mean merely OTA...

A NN training analogy might be like placing fingers in visibly leaking holes of a water dike. You can minimize visible leaks by adjusting NN weights so the overall NN error is minimized. But in between the visible leaks are slow leaks that may or may not be covered by parts of the hand or finger...

How does dojo get the FSD training to my car? I don't mean merely OTA...

And like any real time cost senstitive production the car's h/w has limited resource and likely battles to schedule and overlay many large NNs into the processing cores/matrix/arrays. They try to optimize by dividing work between the cores but best laid plans don't always work in the real world...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

That was good interview. I was surprised hearing him say lidar automotive sensors were cheap.

    FSD Beta 10.69

And they might prioritize safety data so any data involving high deceleration, high lateral G's, or near misses might have a better chance of being assimilated into the combined dizzy consciousness.

    FSD Beta 10.69

Even if a rare FSDb driver is comfortable with all those mistakes it wears on passengers. It might be similar to comparing Disney's worn-out 1959 Matterhorn ride to one of their newest roller coaster rides. The difference is night and day.
