2023 Model X Plaid vs. Long Range, that is the question...

I hear the 6 seater with no armrests can get uncomfortable on long hauls? Yeah the 6 seater is definitely the kid seat configuration that most people like.

    Considering Model X purchase

The new "refreshed" Palladium started in '22 for the X I believe. For the S there are some '21s that are the newer "refreshed" versions. Every few months Tesla tends to upgrade something so it's a bit of a moving target. For example the lights got upgraded at some point. I have a pivoting...

    Considering Model X purchase

Yes the previous "performance" version was indeed available in all the seat configurations. Why they now limit it to the 6 seater is beyond me. I would not go to the previous version. Remember that above 30mph, the most recent X "long range" or "base" is FASTER than the previous Performance...

    Considering Model X purchase

It used to be called the long range model. With the S and X, even the "long range" or "base" is very fast. It's a different league than 3 and Y base or long range.

I'm also hoping they will do an acceleration boost at some point on the standard/long range X and S. Unlock the 0-30, drop another 1/2 sec, perhaps bump from 670hp to 750hp. That would be sweet. They did that for the Y. Who knows they may just do it. It's certainly doable and probably easy...

No problem with my falcon doors. I think they are fairly solid. They've been doing falcon doors since the X came out. Sometimes they don't function as expected like they wont open all the way and you have to hit the button to make them do that. But you get used to it. They provide cover when...

    Considering Model X purchase

I was in the same boat as you. I would have gone Plaid X but the 6 seater is terrible for anyone with dogs. It's also terrible for actually hauling large items. I settled on the 7 seater, Long Range X. It has a ton of versatility. Yes do I look at Plaids when I see them but I know owning the...

    Considering Model X purchase

Have you looked at the new Lucid Gravity? Or the Cybertruck? Maybe just get a big ICE SUV like a Suburban and then complement that with a Model S Plaid since you seem like you want a LOT of speed :)

    Considering Model X purchase

That is a tiny SUV and certainly would not work for you. Also real life v. marketing specs are not the same. With ICE cars, getting those numbers is very difficult. You need perfect road conditions with perfect launch. Real life is very different. I have read about how people have taken out C8...

    Considering Model X purchase

Right, remember that Tesla measures all it's "performance" version with rolling start. So your M3P is 3.1sec with rolling start. The X is 3.5sec with rolling start. M3P: 0-60 3.1 (rollout subtracted), 11.6@115mph MX: 0-60 3.5 (rollout subtracted), 11.3@123mph Your can see what is happening...

    Considering Model X purchase

Find me 1/4 mile time better than 11.3sec@123mph on a BMW or Porsche SUV. The X with 670hp is far more power than any BMW or Porsche SUV. It's simple physics. Now if you want to factor in the instant torque available when passing, the BMW and Porsche will be blown out of the water. ICE is...

    Considering Model X purchase

I am referring to the latest version which it seems you have test driven already. Have you nailed the throttle at around 30 while in insane mode? It'll pull harder than your M3P and harder than any BMW, Porsche, even Lambo SUV.

    Considering Model X purchase

Not sure if you are thinking the X LR is slow or something. It's faster than any Porsche or BMW SUV. I'll bet money on a race!

    Considering Model X purchase

It's faster than your M3P. Take a look at 1/4 mile times (11.3@123mph). Heck that's faster than a Urus. Unfortunately Tesla limited the 0-30mph, above 30mph though....it's a beast.

2023 Model X Plaid vs. Long Range, that is the question...

You can get the regular X and then just upgrade the steering wheel after you buy it. Tesla sells the yoke. The 6 seater configuration is no good for versatility. No fold flat and that's another negative against the Plaid.
