Model Y windshield replacement in BC

DANG ! Sorry to hear that. Better the glass than a chip the bodywork I guess if yours is new. Tesla finally got back to me and has quoted ~CA$1,500 for a new windshield. I have discovered that Prestige Collision here in Kelowna are licensed with both ICBC and Tesla to fix same, so I will be...

Model Y windshield replacement in BC

My windshield got hit and it now has a large horizontal crack to limits shown (pic) I put in a service request from the phone app to replace the glass and have been provided with an appointment in Surrey (4 hours drive away) - however, they have not contacted me yet for what is now 5 days...

Can timed charging be turned off?

I would like my car to charge immediately I plug it in at home. It used to do this before I changed the settings one time to go to 100% for a long trip. I”d like to eliminate the additional step of now having to go to my app or car screen to “start charging” every time I plug it in. Is there...

iPhone contact not recognized by MY

OK - it did not like renaming the gate to Billy Bob - seems I have far too many "Bobs" in my contacts for it to get confused with. I renamed the number to be "Security" and "Gate" and that seems to work OK. Very strange..... but problem solved.

iPhone contact not recognized by MY

Thanks for the suggestion - I had "The Entrance" as the forename and "Gate" as surname. Got rid of "the" to rename forename to just "Entrance" but I got the very same response from car. As mentioned, this worked flawlessly as just "the" and "Gate" for the first few months, so perhaps this...

iPhone contact not recognized by MY

Our strata entry gate is triggered to open by calling a phone number. It was initially in my iPhone contacts list as "the Gate". My Model Y used to respond to the voice command "Call the Gate by calling this number, but since a software update some time in April/May, it now responds with "This...

    Paint damage

Hi MY2Ski - your damage looks worse than mine - especially to the front of the rear door. I feel your pain! Tesla did not accept any liability for the damage, nor offered anything towards mud flaps, ppf or paint correction to appease me. I used Dr Colorchip on mine to hide the white pitting...

    Tow Hitch Cover

I removed my hitch cover at the time of delivery to confirm I had the OEM hitch installed, Removal of the cover without destroying any of the tabs was a PITA, but I managed it without instruction and was fairly straightforward. However, I went to remove the cover again a few days ago to trial...

    Paint damage

If I apply the OEM PPF to the bottom rear qtr of the rear doors to limit further damage, can the PPF be easily removed later on in order to correct the pitting without taking some of the clearcoat / paint with it and making a bad situation worse??? I presume if Tesla supplies it rather than a...

    Paint damage

Installed the OEM mud flaps on the front wheels and the muck thrown up on to this area seems to have been reduced significantly. I don't think this is as much a paint issue as it is a design flaw. The best paint in the world would have a hard time resisting being sandblasted ~6 months a year...

    Paint damage

My appointment with the mobile service team was just cancelled and I got a message stating that the Warranty does not cover paint damage due to "environmental factors". However, in the same statement, Tesla "recommends installing the All Weather Protection Kit" to prevent such damage. This...

New tesla owner ...wall outlet or new wall charger

Annoyed to find the BC rebate offer ended Feb 28 and application forms were taken offline. I bought the v3 charger with 18.5 ft cord and get ~72km/hr charge rate on a 60a breaker. The cord length provided is barely the length of the car, so think carefully about placement before you install. I...

    Snow clearing mode???

Is there an email or other where such suggestions can be made to Tesla? Snow mode could also be used to put the wipers in service mode, limit regen braking to provide more control to the driver and defrost the door handles etc. I have been doing some research on car washes and a car wash mode...

Model Y owners, any regrets? What to look for at pick up?

Not a SR, but picked up my LR Y couple of weeks ago. I have no regrets. Fit and finish were flawless and I have the black exterior which shows everything. I used the checklist and felt a bit foolish bringing it when I did not find anything. Make sure you buy the OEM mud flaps ASAP for the...

    Paint damage

Greetings. I am new to the forum. Picked up my Model Y from Vancouver last weekend and drove the ~4.5 hour trip home to the Okanagan. The vehicle inspection before I drove it away was fault free, other than the minor removal of some tape left in-place under the roof glass. I was delighted...
