Tesla releases new tool for people to retrieve ‘blackbox data’ after a crash

Hi, if I had a more serious accident, I would be calling you in minute. I'm glad to know you're out there and I'm sure you're going to popular with others. I purchased the Peak adapter and was hoping to make/purchase a harness to extract EDR data from my Tesla model 3. Could you confirm that a...

Tesla releases new tool for people to retrieve ‘blackbox data’ after a crash

Video footage would have quickly solved our problem with the other driver claiming it was our fault; our airbags did not deploy since the accident was more of a side-scrape than a forceful impact. If we could download the EDR data using the Peak adapter and harness, we could use the location of...

Tesla releases new tool for people to retrieve ‘blackbox data’ after a crash

Howdy, AppleGuru. I was involved in a crash in my model 3 and the other driver is now claiming it was 100% our fault (which it wasn't). I bought a Peak adapter too, but I need to obtain a harness connecting the 9-pin Peak adapter to the Tesla's connector. Do you have this cable and know where to...

    Need Model 3 EDR Cable

No I haven't. I've opened the car's molding and found the connector which crash data pointed out, but I don't want to access it until I get bit more info and I make/buy the harness.

    Need Model 3 EDR Cable

Hey, thanks Randy for the bike info. My insurance company has told me they will reimburse me, so I'm probably going to purchase the kit, just to make sure I have everything I need to download the data. I will know more about the cable which connects to the car's port and P-Can once I hear back...

    Need Model 3 EDR Cable

Yes, I believe you're right. I ordered the PCAN yesterday for $202 (with 10% discount and free shipping) and I will make the other cable required which goes from the 9 pin PCAN to the car's plug. It should be interesting to see how this whole thing works out. In my accident situation, I have the...

    Need Model 3 EDR Cable

Did you purchase/rent/borrow the PCAN cable yet? I will be purchasing one soon and reselling it after I download the data.

    Need Model 3 EDR Cable

The PCAN-USB adapter made by Peak is sold in the USA from a few different sources such as Phytools, however, there are more technical data requirements such as baud rate, which I am trying to confirm. Also, there is a second cable required which connects the PCAN to the actual car's internal...

    Need Model 3 EDR Cable

Hello, have you found your EDR cable for the model 3 yet? I am in the same situation and will be purchasing one any day now. I have been some research and feel somewhat comfortable I know which adapter to purchase from the sources Tesla uses to purchase their PCAN adapters.
