Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

You said it better. Yes, not a good strategy if you want VPP credit.

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

My experience has been similar. But, I did hit my reserve on the 5 hour event on the 29th. Has anyone been able to (or tried to) get their site export limit raised?

The export everything option seems incompatible with VPP. If you export everything, then your VPP baseline usage is too low to get VPP credit. I would turn that option off.

That's what I do, except that i stay in Time Based Control all year and fudge the summer rates so that the Powerwall does not time shift because my rate differential is less that 20%. That keeps me virtual backup only mode. 20 hours a year of VPP @ $2 is better than I can do with time shifting...

I think the Export setting is relatively new and defaulted to Everything when it was added. That is what I saw. I don't know what control Sunrun has over your system. I got my Powerwall directly from Tesla, but we use the same app.

Check your Powerwall Settings. If "Energy Exports" is set to "Everything", then it looks like a VPP event during your peak period every day if you are in time based control. Changing that setting to "Solar" may be what you are used to. I don't know the best strategy for that setting, but I...

    Powerwall Efficiency

I now have completed my first year with Powerwall and my original estimate (90% efficient after taking .5Kw per day overhead) has held up after 6 months of time shifting. Now I am in backup only mode until mid next year. I don't see evidence that the charge rate has significant impact on...

    Powerwall Efficiency

But, you need to know your system's daily loss without power draw (i.e. in Backup mode). My 2 PW system seems to have a daily usage of 0.5 KWh. So, I need to reduce that "energy_imported" number by 500 per day of operation. Using that methodology I see >90% efficiency. But, I have only 2...

Measuring Advaced mode on 3 tier TOU plan

Yes, ideally i could get to/from powerwall for each time of use period. To/from grid would be helpful too. But I can get that from PGE.

Measuring Advaced mode on 3 tier TOU plan

Yes, I understand that. I had enabled TOU at the beginning of May.

Measuring Advaced mode on 3 tier TOU plan

Yes, but that data does not contain a "To Powerwall" column. Also, it does not look like the data changes based on the TOU period selected.

Measuring Advaced mode on 3 tier TOU plan

I am on the CA PGE E-6 Tarrif trying to calculate the savings generated by using time shifting. To do that, I need the Powerwall in/out data for each time period. That data is available on the day view graph display, however it is not available on the week or month views. Has anyone found a way...

    Powerwall Efficiency

Yes, I made sure to measure at 100% charge level. I am currently running on Backup Only. I will check for a loss with no power output.

    Powerwall Efficiency

Thanks mikemillar, my initial reading based on 4 days and a total export of 7.3 kWh says my efficiency was only 75%.
