Any Hardcore Car Enthusiast Out Here? I Have Questions About Going to Model 3

I've gotten used to it, but a responsive throttle and broad powerband never gets "old", in the same way N/A engines inherent responsiveness doesn't get "old". It's an attribute you come to expect from EVs, it makes them feel effortless when moving, and it makes most gas cars feel sluggish, IMO...

Charge Stats in Tesla App May Be Understating Gas Savings

Yeah, it says the equivalent is 28mpg for the Model 3. Considering my M3P competes with other performance cars, and those are around 16-18mpg (and require premium), the savings is absolutely understated.

    Should I get white interior?

30k miles and they look fine, kids and all. I coated mine for some extra protection and carry wipes, but they're pretty low maintenance and really differentiate/lighten the interior, which is different and nice. You only live once, go with what speaks to you.

    When will you upgrade?

Not sure when I'd upgrade. I like a lot of what they've already done since my 2018, but I'd probably really take notice if they could get some of that sustained Plaid performance into the triple digits, on the 3. Should a revised M3P or even Plaid come out with that capability, plus a few other...

CA DMV failing Tesla car for behind the wheel drive test

Gonna have to agree with your argument. "Auto-braking" is a specific emergency feature and comes with an alert to warn the driver of a pending collision with an actual object (and other actions, depending on the car). Regen braking is controlled by the amount of lift on the throttle, no...

    High speed acceleration - revisited

Bolding mine. How is the gap growing, if the cars are accelerating at exactly the same rate? The one second difference exists because they started at different times (reaction) and/or the lead car was initially accelerating faster.

Help Me Decide Between Long Range and Performance

Interestingly, I ordered my M3P with PuP during the lifetime supercharger promotion. In the months between placing the order and taking delivery, Tesla rolled the package into the cost, but honored both the lifetime supercharging and 5k price reduction. Probably a combination of luck and good...

Mercedes EQS Sedan: Rival to Tesla Model S

I'm liking the EQS as a car, but as with anything, there are a few things I'd change and others I love. Personally, it's one of those cars I'd like to see and experience in-person, before making a final decision, but I'm glad it exists, as it pushes boundaries in a few key areas. I also think...

    Model 3 totaled! please advise

While I think skepticism of insurance companies is definitely fair, lawyers can just as easily screw you. There are times to invoke a lawyer, and there are times where it's unnecessary. If there was no personal injury, no active dispute/insurance is cooperative, and damage is isolated to the...

    Does performance feel safer?

I think a lot of drivers instinctively hit the brakes, with the idea that it stops the situation, when really, it merely stops the car and can actually contribute to an incident. That said, you generally want to be able to react in any direction, and what electric offers is responsiveness. So if...

    Model 3 auto-x questions

    1. About 6 runs per session, depending on format and number of people. I usually do AM sessions, though. 2. It really depends where we're running. At Summit Point they have paid charging, while at most of the stadiums/lots, no. 3. I pretty much arrive with as much as possible, after leaving...

    Normal for battery to under-charge?

I have mine set to 90% and it fluctuates to as low as 88%, if it's sitting. Driving into 50% or so and recharging brings it back up to 90%. Seems pretty normal to me, since I believe it's estimating.

Vendor Model 3 Öhlins DFV Coilovers - Engineered by Redwood Motorsports ™

I actually haven't settled on a setting, yet, but I'm likely to go stiffer, since it's my usual preference. Part of the fun is just going through the range and seeing how the vehicle reacts, but I'm going to play with my tire pressure and everything, since I also switched my tires to non-OEM...

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

For me it was significant enough that I definitely wanted to close the gap, and I think we have similar feelings about the stock gap on the Performance. Regardless of which you decide, I think wheel and tire type + offset also play a part. Some tires, for example, have more square sidewalls vs...

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

No longer at stock ride height, but I did switch with those exact specs. If you're talking strictly about looks, the taller sidewall of the 245/40 tire can make the 19s look even smaller, since you're (probably) aiming for the stock 20 overall diameter. The gap arguably looks worse, since it's...
