They are definitely rated for outdoor installation. I've seen and used many at hotels that have been outside for 5 or more years and the only wear is from people mishandling them.

I'm not much a fan of companies merging. It inevitably kills options and creativity. Rivian's ideology is very different from Tesla's. Their product design is as well. I see them more as a competitor to Jeep's off-road adventure mentality, where Tesla is a competitor to Toyota, Chevy, etc...

I'm amazed Cracker Barrel didn't get in on DCFC years ago. They could game the system a little and install chargers that are just fast enough to be useful, but also slow enough to keep people in the retail portion of their business a little longer.
