Seem to recall Elon saying he had differing ideas for the tech used in future auto-automobiles. Google seems to use radar tech, Elon was more interested in developing camera tech. Not sure what the basis for that is, but iirc he didnt go much further into it.

I believe Elon also said it is in today's dollars, so add a few years inflation by the time it is released. Probably more like $40,000.
