    FSD Beta 10.12

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I've got a safety score of 98. When the rollout of 10.12 started I actually had a score of 99, but I guess I slipped. What do I need to do to get the rollout. I've been requesting to be in the beta program for a long time.

Do Not Require Workers to Unionize for Consumers to Receive EV Tax Credit

Companies and states do have a say in how the union elections are performed and who pays for the union's costs. In the 60's union membership was high and workers took a larger percent of a corporations profits and workers in general had more money to pay for products made by the companies and...

End of Speed Limit - NY

This is still annoying and newer software releases have not fixed the problem. Every time I come home, I have to turn autopilot off, because it won't go above 45 mph after seeing an "End 40 mile speed limit sign". Before Tesla started reading road signs the system performed well. I can't seem...

    Auto Wipers are awful

I've had the wipers not work in full daylight (though obviously cloudy) when the rain was streaking on the windshield and making it hard to see the road (was an empty road so I decided to wait to see if they came on). We will not get this fixed by an OTA update. The problem is that the only...

Waiting for Tax Credit to come back?

The dominant view of most economists is that in the context of the economic problems caused by the pandemic there needs to be government spending. There are a small number of conservative economists who don't believe this but if Biden wins he'll pay attention to for example: Opinion | Why...

    Auto Wipers are awful

If you have trouble with the wiper settings you can push the command button and say things like "wipers faster" or to go back you can say "wipers automatic". For me living north on NYC the wipers are the worst part of an otherwise awesome car.

    2020.36

Earlier in this thread there's a discussion about whether Tesla can get around the MobileEye patent. See for example: which points to the patent. The important part of a patent is the claims. To infringe someone must do all the elements of the claims. If you don't do what they are calling...

Tesla Semi's Latest Makeshift Megacharger Suggests Major Battery Upgrade

This is not solely because of new battery technology. The truck uses a certain amount of electric power, which is supplied by the battery. No matter what technology the battery has, it's going to need to be recharged with at least that much power. If the chargers are v2 there's a limit to how...

    900 Volt Battery System

i think the standard answer is that you can send more power over a smaller wire, or equivalently have less loss in the same wire. But then you have to worry about sparks and other ways that the power can move from one place to the other overcoming resistance (eg wrapping the wire in an...

Why isn't Tesla designing a van for Europe? Seems to be a no brainer.

Musk is an engineer. The exoskeleton for the pickup excited him and gave the Cybertruck an additional point of differentiation beyond just being an EV (with Tesla software and FSD). That probably moved it to a higher priority on the list of new types of vehicles to produce.

    Battery depletion in winter

I'm not convinced this is normal. You used up 116 km of range in two trips that were in total 20km. That's a lot worse than 50% efficiency. I think it's reasonable to assume each start requires something like maybe 10km of range to heat the car up and then you run at 20% less efficiency. I'd...

    Slacker and Spotify Observations

I agree that asking the car to play a song, now brings up a display, requiring a press on the monitor, which in turn requires taking your eyes off the road. The previous response was better. It usually for me got the right thing, and even if it didn't I could repeat my request without taking...

    iPhone won’t Connect?

You might try powering off the Iphone and then turning it back on. I have an IPhone 6, and I think sometimes one of the bluetooth low energy transceivers goes off but comes back on when I reboot the phone. I'm not sure that's your problem, because if I turn on the app and keep it active, which...

    Software wishlist

Either allow the speech reco to understand commands like "Wiper go faster", "Wiper on", "Wiper slower", or allow a double tap on the windshield washer button (left stalk) to turn the wipers on to the slowest setting and another double tap to make them go to the next faster manual setting, with a...

Automatic Windshield Wiper Issue—rains but delay is way too long

I agree with the above posts. Wiper activation is the worst feature in an otherwise spectacular car. I think it's clear that when the car was designed someone drank the kool-aid and believed they could do a better job than most cars by using a neural net to sense the rain. The problem is they...
