    DIY LTE Upgrade?

I had my 2015 Model S' MCU upgraded to V2 for the LTE/4G in Mar2021. MCU performance overall was significantly improved - well worth the cost. However, about 6 moths ago I started getting messages from TEsla saying the SIM need updating. When I pointed out I had had the MCU2 upgrade they...

12 volt battery warning: Experimenting for truth...

I've had a RH drive 2015 Tesla Model S from new here in the UK. It has only done 36k miles. I got a '12V battery needs replacing' alert about 2 weeks ago having not had any previous issues. I tired Tesla for a replacement battery and they said they were unable to send me a battery due to my...

What is the REAL time to delivery?

Before you give up, do some thorough research on the alternatives as a lot of new vehicles are on very long waiting times (over a year!) due to the post-COVID silliness.

    How Long do TPMS Last?

I don't know who did the 'When did your first tyre pressure sensor fail?' survey but, given that it appears that the life of the sensor batteries is more related to mileage than time, wouldn't it be more useful to do another survey based on mileage at failure?

    "Charging equipment not ready"

A customer report the same error message ("Charging equipment not ready - See equipment instructions to start charging") with their new Tesla M3 having replaced the original (LEAF) Type 1 cable set on a tethered Podpoint with a new Type 2 one (32A). He has found that reducing the charge current...

    "Charging equipment not ready"

It not a question of being pedantic, it is a question of *using the right name for what you are talking about*! This whole EV thing is confusing enough with out being lazy and/or ignorant by adding yet another source of confusion!! Charger - charge-point. It isn't rocket-science!

Extremely Disappointed With Model S Range When Driving on the Highway at 35F

And.... let's not forget that *any* vehicle suffers the same extra aerodynamic drag (and therefore reduced range per 'refuelling') in cold weather. It's down to the increse in the density of the air at colder temperatues. IIRC, I calculated that going from about 20C to 0C ambient outdoor...

TIme for a New 'Electric Boats" Forum Category?

I came across this today.. Aqua Superpower (using 'Supercharging' is a bit cheeky!) I see they are installing their first rapid chargers in UK marinas in the south and south-west, tho expect it'll be a while before they reach the Hebrides...

How-to: Changing the IEC 62196/Type 2 Charging Cable of Tesla Wall Connector

"It’s not every day we get an electrical safety AND public health expert on these boards! Cheers to you, mate. Thanks for setting us all straight." Sadly, there's no lack of sarcasm, though...

How-to: Changing the IEC 62196/Type 2 Charging Cable of Tesla Wall Connector

Name one. You may be surprised to learn that Tesla is the ONLY maker of EVSEs that uses a temperature sensor in its Type 2 female plugs intended for domestic use. How many incidents have there been involving danger to persons caused by an overheating Type 2 female plug? I'm afraid your...

    Scheduled Departure

So, if you 'just want to charge NOW, FCOL!' use the Scheduled Charging and set the slider to off so the time field is greyed out. As long as there is a gap between your current SOC and the set SOC limit (and the car is connected to a working charge-point, of course), the car will start charging...

    Scheduled Departure

Sorry - saw your comment when I posted mine. Your scenario is exactly as my 2015 was until about a year ago... progress! Why don't they give the option to NOT implement these half-baked new ideas when you download the latest OTA 'improvement'?!
