Found this on another thread, and have definitely heard this about Model S/X/3 and Roadster before. The price point is for access to the product. To be the first in line! But some downfalls may be lack in hardware for future features, early bugs and production issues.

I would hope similar to Model S/X you would have access to founder series colors. I can't imagine the 2020 roadster in any other paint than founder series red or a nice pearl white. Maybe the extra 50k includes a private dinner with Musk himself! ;)
