If your extension is going to be months you could consider wiring a longer cable into the charger. EV Chargeking and others I am sure, sell cables terminated to wire into a charger.

It is better than that - you can set it to send a signal at a certain (adjustable) distance from the gate - so as I approach my gate I get the prompt you see, then as I get closer I see a count down of the distance before it automatically triggers the gate (with option to not). Works the same...

I would say the CCS upgrade is definitely worth it - quite a few of the SC sites in the UK only have CCS capability, also the charge speed does seem much faster (2X) vs the older "twin" SC on my 2017 S.
