    Charge Port door didn't open

We just had the charge port door replaced a couple weeks ago on our 2018 after it stopped working. We had to manually pry it open for a few days while we waited for our appointment. I think it took less than 15 minutes for mobile service to replace the part.

    2021 TPMS display & reset

In every car with TPMS I have driven (BMW, VW, Honda, and our 2018 and 2019 Model 3s) I have had to start moving to see the tire pressure.

    2021 TPMS display & reset

It’s the sensors that are controlling the sleep, not the car. They have to rotate to wake up and start transmitting the pressure signal.

    2021 TPMS display & reset

I think what you’re seeing is normal. TPMS sensors sleep when the car isn’t moving for a while to extend the battery life. You have to start driving to wake them up and have them start reporting. At least that’s how they’ve worked on any car I’ve owned with TPMS. I can’t tell you anything...

Taptes Model 3 roof rack copy

Unfortunately, the Tesla rack is just painted, too, and scratches badly with use. I'd be scared to install the Taptes rack with the generic nut and no torque wrench, though. At least the Tesla rack comes with a thumbscrew and hex wrench that make it a little harder to over-torque. Better...

Model 3 HW3 retrofit questions, wait time, issues

Just got mine installed by mobile service this morning in Maryland. It took about 1h15 and just needed wifi and the garage door opener set back up. It looks like the computers come with the latest map already installed now because 2020.12 was already there. I did the calibration drive and got...

Traffic Light option won't enable - says I need to download latest maps?

A couple thoughts: - My wife's Model 3 seems to get get stuck sometimes trying to connect to wifi. It looks like it is connected, but my router will show several days of 0 bytes transferred. Rebooting the car clears the problem, and we'll sometimes "magically" get an update right after the...

22 months after purchase, Notified of HW3 upgrade

I agree with the others—the FSD computer is definitely not available for the asking. I’ve tried and been rejected, and from other comments the NE US has been out of them for a while. Any sort of timeframe or position on the backlog would really go a long way to managing expectations.

    Cannot Update to new Software

I have Ubiquiti UniFi access points, and I ran a physical wire to it since I have an unfinished basement with a few inches of common wall with the garage. I've never tried mesh since I was able to run wires to all three access points in my house.

    Cannot Update to new Software

No it doesn't; 5 GHz is fine. What the car does seem to want is a minimum signal strength to start a download, especially for map updates; two bars or less can be a problem according to my experience. The cars favor 5 GHz connections over 2.4, and with 5 GHz not propagating as well you can end...

Model 3 HW3 retrofit questions, wait time, issues

I don’t think that’s the case. I tried adding the FSD retrofit onto a bodywork repair planned for 3/16 and was told they didn’t have inventory to do it now.

AutoPilot braking on cut-in and brake-check. Does car brake enough?

AP doesn't react immediately when someone merges in front of you, probably with the idea that the new car might just continue through to the next lane. It happens all the time in my area with people deciding to exit from the left lane, or immediately heading for the left lane when entering a...

Why is Charging app a bit rudimentary

It does sound like the problem may just be with the IOS app. It isn't that you can't set it to any arbitrary value, it's that you can't fine tune the setting. Any attempt to move the bar slightly either gets ignored or jumps up or down ~10%.

Why is Charging app a bit rudimentary

No, I agree with the OP that it can be very frustrating and they've done something pretty wrong with the UI that it is this hard to use. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter whether I'm setting it to 79% or 81% instead of 80%, but when I'm trying to drag the bar and it wants to keep...

Why are Geiko and Progressive's comprehensive coverage so low compared to others?

I don't have Geico, but my wife and I have been hit twice by people with Geico insurance. They are horrible to deal with. There could be national news coverage of one of their drivers hitting your car and admitting it on camera, and Geico would still claim it was your fault and deny payment.
