Model 3 Made in Shanghai with LFP battery pack

Hi! I provided some details of my findings in a PM - mainly that LFP batteries are installed only on SR models, and not on LR. Regarding charge range - that looks correct. The number you see advertised with the car (like 580km or something) the value in a testing called Worldwide Harmonised...

    M3 insurance with ByMiles

I was also worried about this - firstly because I’m paranoid by nature as I work in Cybersecurity - plus on my current BMW I had to install a bymiles tracker since there’s no API. For my BMW I’m certain they collect speed and other info - but policy clearly states they can’t use any driving...

    M3 insurance with ByMiles

Apparently I can’t insure a Tesla on my postcode. Tried with a friends plate. I’m in South London CR8 :) Direct Line works though- I’ll probably stick to that even if it’s more expensive for me than bymiles. Thanks everyone

    M3 insurance with ByMiles

Maybe - the support agent was quite surprised I could even try to get a quote without a license plate - but that's actually possible on their dedicated Tesla page. I'll try again as soon as I get my hands on the reg number.

    M3 insurance with ByMiles

It is a good approach for low mileage drivers - saved me a lot during the lockdowns. Having little UK history any quote is over 1k per year for me, for a comprehensive insurance. With ByMiles I paid around 400 GBP for Feb 2020-Feb2021. I will look into Direct Line - thank you

    M3 insurance with ByMiles

Hi, I'm waiting for my M3 LR to be delivered and meanwhile I'm researching the best insurance I can get. I don't have lots of driving history in the UK so any insurance is expensive by default - but for my current car (BMW) I'm using ByMiles, which has a fair model - you pay for what you use...

Battery charging rates w/ made in china

Yes - this is my understanding too. Plus the LFP batteries don't have the 80% stop limit recommendation when charging, it's immediately visible in the charging screen menu. It goes to 100% by default so you can immediately tell it's a different chem. At least this is what I see from videos of...

Model 3 Made in Shanghai with LFP battery pack

Hi Tesla Model 3 owners, I'm collecting my Model 3 LR AWS beginning of March and it seems it will be based on the new LFP batteries. In the UK there are not many LFP cars so nobody can actually share some insights on the rumours about charging speed and battery calibration. I was wondering if...

Made in China Model 3: Build Quality / Hardware Differences

True - thank you for this. i will maybe create a message in the German community. They've been receiving LFP equipped cars from December.

Made in China Model 3: Build Quality / Hardware Differences

How does a LFP VIN Looks like? Would be cool if we had one to test it and see. It seems to me that all VIN possible options for character 7 (which tells the battery version) return Lithium Ion. Technically LFP is still Lithium Ion so that is correct.

Made in China Model 3: Build Quality / Hardware Differences

Maybe. I'm asking for clarifications. He knows my orders is a LR AWD and he said "Yes it’s coming from Shanghai, and will contain the batteries that can be charged to 100%. Trust me, this is a good thing! The reason we’re saying you can charge to 100% is because the cell chemistry is different –...

Made in China Model 3: Build Quality / Hardware Differences

I'm waiting to pick up my M3 L3 AWS beginning of March. VIN says it's Lithium-Ion Battery and it's manufactured in China but a Tesla Rep confirmed it's the LFP battery which "can be always charged to 100%". There are two things I'm worried about 1) This battery is actually designed to be...
