This is why we can't have nice things.

    Trailer hitch on 2021 refresh?

Now that you've had the Eco Hitch for a while, how do you like it? I am intrigued by the stainless steel received. I'd get the Tesla hitch, but they want a Model X VIN to order the parts. I looked up one from a used car site but they either figured it out or the order is now on a vehicle I...

    Wiki 2021+ Model S Refresh - Missing/Incomplete Software Features

I think this happens if you've changed the setting to require a double press to engage AP (so that a single press engages TACC only). The software has to have a slight delay to detect the difference between a single press and double press in that case. If you leave this setting at its default...

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

And from my data tonight (8 runs so far, 4 with and 4 w/o launch control, Cheeta Stance is worth almost exactly 0.1s in both 0-60 and final 1/4-mile ET. There is no doubt in my mind that it does something.

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

So one more confirmation of a refreshed MSLR not being able to hit a 3.1s 0-60 under pretty much the best possible circumstances. I’m at Bandimere Speedway finally getting in some 1/4-mile runs. My best run of the night is a 10.827 @ 130.67MPH according to the track. According to the Dragy, that...

Maybe because Tesla set that very expectation?

    Extension cords: NEMA 14-30, 10-30, 6-50, or 6-20...

A dryer with a 10-30 plug would not be any less safe plugged into this adapter vs. plugged into a "real" 10-30 socket, but rewiring the dryer with a proper 14-30 cord would be the much better choice. There's really no difference between using this adapter for a dryer vs an EVSE—both are...

Performance of Refreshed MSLR vs. others

I'm still hoping to get to a proper 1/4-mile track (with prep!) and gather some data. Unfortunately, tomorrow's Test & Tune event is almost certainly going to be rained out and there aren't many left for the season. I would be surprised if the MSLR would still be traction-limited on a prepped...

    Does Anybody Else 'Wave' ?

I used to regularly wave at other Model Ses back in the "old days", but now on the rare occasion I do wave I pretty much never get a wave back (until it's a pre-facelift S). The 3/Y crowd (at least around here) definitely don't wave.

Just come across the phantom braking issue, considering canceling my order

This is absolutely not true. The PB issue is with TACC, not AP. If you don't use cruise control you'll never have phantom braking, but you'll have lost functionality that just about every car made in the last 30 years has.

Just come across the phantom braking issue, considering canceling my order

I believe I've already mentioned this twice in this thread, but PB happens to me far too often on divided, multi-lane highways. The triggers I've been able to identify are bridge guard rails and mirages on the road ahead. It seems to be less likely to happen from a mirage if another car is in...

Road trip range anxiety is still a thing?

I would never suggest that you can't do a road trip in a Y—you most emphatically can. We saw tons of Ys at small-town (so likely not locals) Superchargers on our road trips this summer, one or two even pulling trailers. The MYLR is probably about as easy to road trip in (range-wise) as my old...

Road trip range anxiety is still a thing?

This is why the Y isn't the best choice for long highway trips. It's the least aerodynamic of all the current Tesla models and the energy needed to push that tall frontend through the air at 80 MPH is just a whole lot more than with a 3 or S. With the refreshed MSLR range anxiety is pretty much...

Just come across the phantom braking issue, considering canceling my order

So here's my issue with the whole "just learn and be prepared" to overcome PB responses: What I've learned so far is that bridge guard rails and "mirage/oasis effect" on the road seem to be common triggers. (I've not been able to correlate any of my PB events with shadows, but I wouldn't rule it...
