Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

Wait, since when did Tesla start telling people that they would need to pay for the UV treatment?

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

The UV tools have only been in use for a month or two. It’s not a good sign if they are frequently breaking already. Has there been any part of this situation that Tesla hasn’t bungled lately?

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

I have been wondering about this a bit lately. Do appointments with mobile techs count the same as time in the shop? Given Tesla seems pretty keen on keeping cars out of the service centers I was wondering if the mobile techs aren’t completely a convenience to the customer but also a way to do...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

“As a permanent fix...” are they implying that the UV treatment is not permanent? Tesla doesn’t seem to be able to get its story straight on that point. Even so, Tesla should be giving you, under warranty, a fix that they 100% believe is permanent. The fact that they are not willing to stand by...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

I think it is just that Tesla started to deny screen replacements for this over six months ago saying that a fix is on its way. People were patient and waited for Tesla to come out with a solution. However, after months of being given the run around and generally treated like idiots by the...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

I’m glad to hear your SC is trying but it is a bit disappointing to hear that they are waiting to the 30th day to take care of it. It really makes it feel like they just don’t care if even after arbitration they drag their feet on getting it fixed. I don’t think this is your service centers...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

I suspect that they will ultimately tell you that "the fix is coming and they will let you know when it does" or some such nonsense. I don't get the sense the service centers have the power to many any decisions on their own regarding the yellow screens.

    Software update bricked my car

I'm sure Tesla feels this is simply a wear and tear issue. Why should an owner assume a core part of their car will last the life of the vehicle... totally unreasonable to think that.

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

I would be curious to see what your screen looks like after the treatment in screen cleaning mode and/or the sketchpad.

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

As amusing as contacting the service center every day would be Tesla has made attempting to contact an SC near impossible. They don't want to hear about your problems. Its not like their job is to provide support to the owners or anything (part of which is just answering simple "how do I..."...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

Are the S and X screens liquid cooled?

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

I'm a bit afraid that issue this is a canary in a coal mine. It is our warning that Tesla doesn't believe it has any obligation to their customer's to honor their warranty. If there is something Tesla no longer feels like fixing they will just make up a reason to weasel out of it. Tesla is...

    MCU Yellow Border - Fixed!

Having Tesla replace the screen under warranty two times for this issue should be pretty strong evidence if you decide to go to arbitration. Tesla will try to argue that they didn't know the yellowing was caused by "sunlight" back then which is why they were so kind and just replaced it but now...

Yellow screen? Force Tesla to Replace it!

Since this is probably helpful to many I will do my best to summarize the current state of the Tesla yellow screen issue as it stands today. A yellow border forms around the center touchscreen on Model S and Model X cars. This has been going on since 2016. The cause is likely heat / oxidation...
