    Lug nut socket size

Absolutely not. In fact a 6” or longer extension will result in a more accurate torque. If you one-hand the torque wrench then you are placing a side load on the item under test. This is wrong. With a 6” extension one has to held the head of the torque wrench and the handle resulting in a pure...

    Drive unit replacement worth it?

The most attractive option at the moment appears to be to repurpose my traction battery for PV storage. Have 75+ kWh of capacity. Drive unit dead. Internal short. Have had the vehicle returned to my carport.

    Drive unit replacement worth it?

There is no way I will spend $20k on gasoline the next 10 years. And only pay $20k to have a car I might be able to sell for only $20k. Have a Subaru with 27k miles and F-150 with 10k. If the Tesla goes it will be replaced with a tractor with front end loader.

    Drive unit replacement worth it?

My first 500 mile trip required 3 stops of about 30 minutes each. The last time I made that trip was in 2019 and each stop (same Superchargers) took just over an hour each. Have burned gasoline 4 or 5 times since because adding 3 hours to 9 hour day is no fun. Somewhere around 2016 a firmware...

    Drive unit replacement worth it?

I too have the cited 2 error codes, performance limited to about 120kW, no regeneration. Appointment next week. $219.50 just for diagnosis. DU was replaced under warranty at 7 years 11 months for bearing noise during propulsion, quiet coasting. Is now almost 2 years since. No noise, the DU...

FAQ: Home Tesla charging infrastructure Q&A

They are not “chargers”. The Wall Connector and Mobile Connector are “connectors.” The charger is built in to the vehicle. The EVSE “connector” is a glorified extension cord with as many safety features as practical. Ultimately it does nothing more than connect your EV to the AC power grid.

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

Is not my iPhone providing the text to speech translation so there is nothing I can do on the iPhone. This is a software feature which has been added to my Model S since original delivery December 17, 2013. The audio level from telephone communications is separately controllable vs music. The...

    $724 for TPMS sensor?

    Did that add PSI display?
  14. N

    Alabama tire center...

You can put air in your tires. If one will not put 42 PSI in the tire (unbelievable that any tire shop doesn’t know 50, 45, and 35 series tires run 42-45 psi) one can always point to the placard on the door post inside drivers door. Tire tech should have looked there himself.

    $724 for TPMS sensor?

I was told in 2017 to upgrade my 2013 to be able to display PSI was about $800. I declined so they replaced the dead wheel sensors under warranty at no cost. The mobile tech used an Autel TS-508 to check my sensors. I now own one of these tools.
