Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

Here are my 295/40's for reference.

Biggest tires on model Y performance

I am rolling with the same fronts and 295/40/21 - Michelin Pilot Sport 4 A/S for the rears with no issues. So you should be fine. It has been a great upgrade!

Model Y Performance 21" Tires - Larger, More Comfortable Fitment Details and Experience - Michelin AS4's (With Photos)

Fantastic review, Raurele. I have been running exactly the same setup since last year and it is fantastic. American Tire refused to install at first. They were concerned about rubbing. Like you, I never have had an issue with rubbing, front or rear. I have hit curbs hard enough to have...

Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

On running with The MICHELIN PS AS4 265/40R21 and 295/40R21, the basic ride is a bit smoother but not a massive difference from the summer Pirelli OEMs. However, with the OEMs the smallest pothole was jarring and with the new tires, it is not an issue. I would say the overall dry road handling...

Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

I have reposted a couple of pics. The MICHELIN PS AS4 265/40R21 and 295/40R21 are still riding fine with no rubbing, even under load, nice ride and as quiet as the OEMs. I am very happy with them.

Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

265/40R21. > 10K miles with plenty of bumps and curves and have experienced no rubbing.

Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

Here are a couple of photos of the 295/40R21 rears. Already hit a curb twice with these and no rash (of course the OEM tires gave zero protection)! Much better ride over potholes too.

Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

Now with over 6000 miles on the Michelin PS AS4 265/40R21 fronts and 295/40R21 rears I have experienced no rubbing. No, I did not use spacers. By the way, my rear tire hit the curb pretty hard today while parking. I was lucky as the tire took the blow and the wheel was unscathed!

Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

I had the same issue with Discount/America's Tire. As you know, they are nervous about rubbing with any tire larger than OEM sizes. Once I agreed that I would not return the tires for that reason, they were fine. No need to change sensors or anything else. This is no big deal, but bear in...

Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

I now have 5K miles on the larger Michelin PS AS4 265/295/40R21 and have not experienced any rubbing front or rear. The ride is a noticeable improvement over the OEM Pirelli P Zero summer tires, especially on smaller bumps and on the highway. However, the biggest advantage is that the...

Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 on Uberturbines- 265/35 & 275/35R21

Here is a rear shot of 295 width tires (these are the Michelin PS AS4 295 40 21).

Suspension Clearances for Wider / Taller tires

I like the 40% as it give a little more vertical sidewall. Currently running MICHELIN PS AS4 265/40R21 fronts and 295/40R21 rears without issues.

Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

Just completed a trip SF-LV-OC-SF with the Michelin PS All Seasons 4 265/40R21 fronts and 295/40R21 rear. Trip saw rain and some snow at higher elevations so glad I had All Seasons. No rubbing front or back. Need to watch speed as it is ~6% greater with the bigger rear tires. For example 75...

Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

Even thought my 265/40R21 (29.3”) fronts and 295/40R21 (30.3”) rears are one 1" difference in diameter, they handle as good as or better than the OEM Pirellis and give a lot more pothole/rim protection.

Maximum Tires Size Model Y Performance?

Here are some photos of the MICHELIN PS AS4 295/40R21 rears. The handling, ride and sound are all noticeably different with the 265/295 setup compared to the OEM Pirellis. The MYP is still is very confident in sharp curves, both my wife and I felt the ride is improved and although the sound is...
