Winter - excessive battery range reduction...

Thank you for the link to the thread. Reviewed really see nothing new. Looks like we have pretty much the same car mine about three months older. Real problem is with a significant drop in range and supercharging speed the car does not perform to the same level when purchased. Is a great...

Winter - excessive battery range reduction...

This is my 6th winter, car has 97,000 miles, it appears have lost considerable range rather quickly, So much so have scheduled a service appointment to have things checked out. I do preheat car and cabin prior to any trip, around town short trips have never paid attention to range in winter...

recomendation for tow hitch installer, Central PA or east

Looking to add an "ECO" hitch or similar to our model S. Will use to tow kayak trailer. Understand Tesla does not have a tow rating for the model "S", stilling willing to go this way. Do not want to use roof rack. Have heard of a issues and believe range will be less effected with a trailer...

    Winter Tires, or no?

Have always used winter tires on all cars. Lived in WI, VA, MD and now PA. Started years ago with rear wheel drive ICEs. Winter tires help you stop ... the tires themselves handle better at lower temperatures whether or not there is snow or ice on the road. Right now have the Pirelli Sotto 3...

3 tips to significantly increase range in winter and message for Tesla

Found this blog post my first winter with my model S. Everything still holds true as do many of the comments above. I drive regularly in Northern New England, follow the general recommendations found here and have been comfortable with heating and range. Cold Weather Driving

    What's with the snowflake?

Have had the same experience as “mknox” … no snow flake, in my third winter with temperatures as low as 15F outside not plugged in.

Winter - excessive battery range reduction...

Live in PA where our temperatures are relatively moderate, but do travel north a few times every winter. Just returned from New Hampshire last evening and experienced driving in temperatures as low as -15 Fahrenheit over the past week. Range is reduced as it would be with any car if only...

    EZ-Pass Problems

Have a two year old model S and mounted the EZPass transponder in the nose cone works very well except when there is a build up of ice. A bumper mount on the new model cars should also work.

    Insuring a new Tesla $$$

When I bought my Tesla Allstate quoted me almost three times what I was paying to insure a Cadillac CTS. Shopped around found a range of quotes ended up with State Farm. Final price was $35 a year less than I paid for the Cadillac. Shop around you should be able to find reasonable insurance.

    70D Range

I typically use the 150% rule mentioned by another. That allows me to drive without compromising speed typically around 75 - 80 MPH. With this rule I would plan a charge along the way for my first trip. Use the trip tools when the NAV is on and see how it goes, Have never gone to zero but...

    70D Range

Changed my display to battery percentage a long time ago ... many to avoid range anxiety, for me miles were more intimidating than percent. Today my car has over 22,500 miles. At time of purchase it charged to 100% equal to 240 miles. Today last time I checked 100% equals 230 miles. If you...

    Sunshade for back passenger window

Bought the rear window sunshade from Tesla in the beginning of the summer. WE have a dog that travels in the back and it was getting too hot. The sunshade is easy to pop in, it cuts down the heat in the car dramatically so I recommend it. You might also want to search posts on cooling in the...

    Advice Travelling the I-81 Corridor?

We have traveled to Greenville, SC early on with our car in the winter. No issues at least through Wythville. Since that time we have taken many long trips and the only recommendation I have is to use the navigation system with the energy trip calculator displayed. If early in the trip it...
