what do I lose without premium connectivity and why does wifi keep turning off?

Maybe it's an S vs. 3 thing. My S with firmware 2020.20.1 will not turn off the WiFi when shifting into gear. My 3 with firmware 2020.24.6.1 does turn off the WiFi when shifting out of Park. I had assumed it was about premium connectivity (which would be a logical way of doing it), but...

what do I lose without premium connectivity and why does wifi keep turning off?

I know on our 2015 S, the home WiFi doesn't drop out until we've driven a hundred yards from home. I'll watch to see if this has changed recently (and it doesn't get updates that often anymore). I just wish the behavior on the two cars was swapped. In any case, it should be using the premium...

what do I lose without premium connectivity and why does wifi keep turning off?

No, if you have premium connectivity, it doesn't drop the WiFi, but if you don't, it does. The logic is reversed. It's clearly a bug.

what do I lose without premium connectivity and why does wifi keep turning off?

The WiFi switching off is clearly a bug. If you have premium connectivity, the WiFi won't switch off, but if you don't, it switches off every time you shift out of Park. This is obviously exactly the opposite of what everyone wants. Before my premium expired, I would have to drive a while for...

    Supercharger - Seekonk, MA

Generally, once a permit is granted, the board members have nothing more to do with it, and it's a town staff issue with the building inspector issuing a building permit when they ask for one. (I'm on the Planning Board in Ashland; no Tesla applications here.) The only good news about the...

    Supercharger - Santee, SC

I charged there last night, and there was yellow caution tape around the new chargers. Fortunately there wasn't any shortage of the regular chargers while I was there, so I didn't test the new ones. This was the first charger I've been at that by default limited charging to 80%.

Tesla doesn't guarantee EV plates in Massachusetts

The ran out of EV plates when I picked up on June 8th. I still need to get around to getting my EV plates. I never bothered on my 2012 Leaf (which I'm now selling).

Wait, they're putting level 3 chargers on level 2? That's just too confusing. :)

Homelink Garage Door Opening no longer included with Premium Interior Package

Homelink on my S was buggy when I first got it in 2015, but after a few software updates, it became quite solid. I love everything about how it works.

Homelink Garage Door Opening no longer included with Premium Interior Package

My 3 was ordered on May 4th, with a build date of May 29th, but I'm not taking delivery until next week. From what I've seen here, I should have Home Link. We'll see.

Homelink Garage Door Opening no longer included with Premium Interior Package

I'm guessing they removed it from the description, but are continuing to include it for another week or two so that most people who had it on the description when they ordered will still get it. They may give the upgrade for free for orders placed in May (or earlier). This sounds like a...

    Supercharger - Braintree, MA

I serve on the Ashland, MA Planning Board, and I'm always surprised at how many people watch our meetings on cable. I'm sure they're quite boring if you're not involved. Also our meetings almost never go to 11, but then we've never had a Tesla application. (If we ever do, I'll post about it...

    Supercharger - Seekonk, MA

Following on supercharge.info, it looks like Tesla has nearly stopped work on network expansion starting in July, probably as part of their push to show a profit for the quarter, they're deferring any optional expenses. The number of newly started chargers is tiny compared to previous months...

    Supercharger - Paramus, NJ

I wanted to charge today, and it was full. I'm always concerned when the charger is at a service center, as they will also charge cars for delivery, cars being repaired, loaner cars, etc. Or maybe it was just popular today.

    Supercharger - Framingham, MA

I've never understood why anyone would set up a fancy networked charging station instead of a simple generic 1772 charger when they're not making people pay to use it.
