Farewell, EV World, from Salisbury UK

After 6 months planning and then 14 months ownership I’ve turned away from the EV adventure and returned to the ICE world. My Tesla M3 Dual Motor has gone and is being replaced with a used Porsche 718 Boxster S. Why? The Tesla Model 3 is a good EV, but that doesn’t make it a good driving car...

    2022.20

22.16.3 arrived yesterday. Other than a more visible charge/discharge line, what does it really add to the experience? I don't have any of the self driving stuff so most of the updates don't interest me. I don't think I'm the sort of owner Tesla thinks about....

    Overstaying at a charger

Makes me happy that I have a petrol option for when I'm going more than 150 miles from home (very rare)😅

    Nav/Map update EU-2022.12-13877

Not in Wiltshire, they are not. Often covered with overgrowth or simply missing.

    [UK] 2022.12.x

12.3.16 arrived, the release notes don't seem to have changed, so what actually is new?

    Southampton pick up

I drove my Pal Dan to Southampton tp collect his new, white, Performance Model 3. Other than on photos of the docks at Shanghai I've never seen so many Tesla cars! There is now a semi permanent reception building, rather like the ones found at events like Goodwood Festival of Speed, plus a 6...

Wireless charging in M3 makes phone very hot

And some claim that charging EVs can be done this way? Yes, my IPhone 13 gets quite hot charging on the pad.

    Nav/Map update EU-2022.12-13877

Initial impressions are not good. It tried to send me from where I was to home sticking to A and B roads, 26 miles and 35 mins instead of the unclassified roads, 8 miles and 15 mins.

The thing I thought I’d like the most about my Model 3 is the thing I like the least

I'm another who will end up in the Flames of Musk... Tesla has the best battery and motor software control of any vehicle I've driven. It remains streets ahead of the competition. The other features range from good (Audio) through iffy (wipers) to terrible (Cruise Control) The rest of the...

    Automated Braking System Disabled

This happened to me last year. Since the new CPU was fitted there have been no similar problems..

Tesla U.K. have closed all their front of house service teams and it’s absolutely baffling

This is a retrograde development. Last time I was at the Winchester service centre there was nothing in the waiting area, other than a poster telling people to wait in the "showroom". I wondered why. Now I know. Now the only way to contact Tesla Service is to log an issue, it seems This could...

    Octopus Smart Meter Experiences

And yes, the bill arrived, covering 4 April to 5th June, correctly broken down into Octopus Go and then Intelligent Octopus. The total bill was £361.63. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes our unit cost of Electricity has gone up significantly, but as this includes EV power that previously was...

    Octopus Smart Meter Experiences

I phoned Octopus this morning, spoke to an advisor who said that she needed to talk to a supervisor and I'd be on hold for up to 10 min. True to her word, about 7 min later she came back and said that there was a glitch between the recording side and the billing system, which was now resolved...

    When to renew Octopus Go

Ive been with Octopus since the end of March. They are billing me for Gas, but not for electricity, even though my consumption is showing on my App, so the smart meter is being recorded every 30 mins. I'm on Intelligent Octopus, 7.5p from 23:30 to 05:30. I've emailed them but no reply. I've now...

    Berlin made cars

It would be interesting to compare the cobalt quantity per kWh battery capacity for all the major battery makers. As well as the environmental reasons for ditching cobalt, it is expensive, another very good reason to use a cheaper, less polluting element.
