    Model 3 Highland Performance

I think the new 3P is defo tempting me out of mine (sept 2020 model, so no heat pump and chromed bits)... but the high price I would stomach if it weren't for the 9.6% APR. If I spec a slightly more expensive Y Perf with fancy paint, it's £345 cheaper per month with the same deposit (4100)...

Help with Powerwall just fitted (stuck at 100% and not discharging to power the house) UK

smaller panels above and round the dormers? Sure you'll not have a solarfarm like 20kWp output... but you should be able to get something... even North facing arrays generate.

    Renew your EV Road Tax

Smart meters no chance. They're a buggy pile of rubbish. They can't even cope with sending usage data reliably, nor know what the price is at a given time. I doubt they can do anything remotely complex like spotting loads. Smart Chargers however are more likely, and far easier. The problem...

DNO electrician installed wrong main fuse

I'd be thinking of longevity. My 100A fuse blew back in Jan, when cars, batteries etc were all busy charging. HA did note a high draw (~24kW). Now the reason I think it went was less to do with what I used then, but more that it had been close to the limit night in night out for a while. So...

The year is 2035. How far have we got?

Car wise I think we'll just see incremental change/improvement. Even if a new battery chemistry starts being used, I doubt it's going to be entirely revolutionary (despite the breathless claims made by new starts desperate for funding). I doubt we'll see anything revolutionary, at least in the...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

    Actually you're spot on... if I look at Hugo I get the following from the DCC: 22nd - Octopus 28.64, Hugo: 31.72 23rd - Octopus 28.91, Hugo: 34.86 24th - Octopus 28.97, Hugo: 49.10 25th - Octopus 28.17, Hugo: 28.04 Yeah, I think I'll keep quiet about that. I never have days when we're away, so...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

My meters are hopeless always missing half hours lots here and there... but at the end of each month I get a single page table, or each days use, cost and so totalcost. eg: 22nd Feb. 2024 58.650 p/thm 3.61 p/kWh 28.64 kWh £1.03 23rd Feb. 2024 58.100 p/thm 3.59 p/kWh 28.91 kWh £1.04 24th Feb...

    Where's solar charging gone?

Yep, IO here and 15p for export... so pays more to export solar than save the 7.5p to charge the car. It could all change of course, which was why I was investigating, but make hay while the sun shines (literally), and pay the investment off a little quicker.

    Where's solar charging gone?

It doesn't, but that's what the Tesla rep has said. I did feedback that I thought it was daft. But you're right, I wasn't going to use it, as have a Zappi if needed, and as you say... at the moment I'm better off exporting it. Thought it worth investigating in case things change in the...

    Where's solar charging gone?

I dropped Tesla an email, I don't get it showing because I have a site import limit apparently. I have no idea why they remove it if you have such a setting, can't see how it's related at all... but I'd rather not remove it as could easily blow the main fuse (2 x EV and 2xPowerwall), and...

Tesla reduces output of Y and 3 in Shanghai

My personal view is largely driven by cost. Yes, we've currently got 2 x Tesla, Powerwalls, Solar etc. But most of that is driven by cost savings. The Solar/Powerwalls, and car allow Intelligent Octopus Go, which allows most of the house to run at 7.5p, and export at 15p. If suddenly that...

Tesla reduces output of Y and 3 in Shanghai

Yup, Salary sacrifice for example is only allowed if you're above minimum wage for example (the sacrifice can't take you below minimum wage), if you annualise the minimum wage, for a 40 hour week, working 52 weeks (paid hols), that's £19,760 per year. Now add in, say £500 per month for a car...

    Octopus Energy Saving Sessions

even if the supplier wasn't doing it?

    Octopus Energy Saving Sessions

Only downside is perhaps that'll count against you if they run another one, tomorrow say.

    Octopus Energy Saving Sessions

Well that'll help one way or another, either they won't bother, or they can make the slots work for them.
