Supercharger - Chicago IL (New City)

I have not visited on a Saturday night, but the 4 times I have been during the day, it has been either empty or only one other car there. It will not be ICED as it is on the top 7th) floor of the parking structure away from the usual parking mayhem. Free validation at Mariano’s, which is open...

Supercharger - Chicago IL (New City)

That’s cool! I personally really enjoy Earl’s Kitchen which is in the New City development where the charger is. There are some nice restaurants on Halsted Street, just North of North Avenue. This is the Lincoln Park area. Wells Street in the Old Town neighborhood between Division and North...

Supercharger - Chicago IL (New City)

You are welcome. Charged there yesterday. It’s a great location with an amazing view of the city. A hassle to have to drive up all the way to the roof of the structure (7th floor I think), but the bonus is the view and the fact that they should never be iced, as nobody ever uses the top parking...

Supercharger - Chicago IL (New City)

Validation (with purchase, but no minimum spend) for 90 minutes at the Mariano’s supermarket. Take the elevation down to level 1 or 2. The easiest elevator is in the structure right next to the charger that is in the corner. Level 2 is the general supermarket, level 1 is the supermarkets “food...

Supercharger - Chicago IL (New City)

Doesn’t look like any progress has been made since the pictures were taken. Went by on July 10th and it still looked the same as on the June 26th pictures.

Supercharger - Chicago IL (New City)

It is officially still in permit stage, so Tesla has not started construction yet as far as I know. You should be able to keep an eye on it’s status on

Supercharger - Chicago IL (New City)

Went by today, Wednesday May 29th and crews were working on the electricity cables as a prep before the Tesla crew gets there. There are going to be 10 urban super chargers on the roof (7th floor) of the Mariano’s/New City parking structure.

Suggestion: 72 kw Designation on Supercharge.info

The problem I am having with the city chargers is that they tend to charge at a rate of about 35kW, not 70kW. Weather is still only around 40 degrees max here though and the car is always parked outside, so this could be a contributing factor. Cold battery, cold temperatures outside, slow...

Supercharger - Chicago, IL (Lincoln Park)

Happy to report that ALL the spots were FREE on a Tuesday afternoon around 2pm. The signs have changed. Half of them used to say 30 MINUTES GENERAL PARKING. Now ALL of them say TESLA VEHICLE CHARGING. Much better! Just saw an ice vehicle want to park and then pull back out of a Tesla spot, as it...

2017 Supercharger Plan: New Chicago city location?

Charged here today. The office first told me charging would be free, but that person did not do validation. I came back to validate after 50 minutes of charging and was told it was $5 for up to 45 minutes. From 46-60 minutes would be the normal $20 rate for 0-60 minutes. She let me go with the...

    Windshield Wiper Visibility Issues

Same problem here. They have been looked at twice and replaced once by the SC, but the downward smear still exist. Right in my field of vision! Worried for the cold winter days, where that little patch will just freeze over every time I clean the salt residue off the windscreen with the wiper...

    Tilted tow hitch

Our hitch attachment is not straight either. The Yakima Fourtimer 4-bike rack angles sideways toward the passenger side. We have used this rack on our previous car without this issue, so it is not the bike rack itself that is the problem.

    Water intrusion after rain

Our late May build X had the same problem. Thankfully only on one side. I took it to the service center and they replaced the seal around the affected FWD. The seal apparently has a gully that channels the runoff water away. Our seal was compressed, causing the gully to not function as designed...
