    Oil selection help

Thanks! That's helpful. Did some more reading and learned that ISO VG is kinematic viscosity done at 40 degC. So, does that mean that Dexron VI is ISO 29.8? If so, then Dexron III is about 37.6. Which would seem much thinner than SHC 629 (which is ISO 150).🤷‍♂️

Is viscosity index the same as iso? If so, then this shows 153 for dexron vi.

And Dexron VI viscosity is very close to that of SHC 629 at about 153. I have read more about oil than I ever thought i would. It appears that SHC 629 is similar to 85w90, other ISO 150 oils, Dexron III, and Dexron VI, but I am confused as to why one was specified over the other on the list. I...

Awesome! So, Mobile SHC 629 is equivalent to Synlube 150, and Synlube 150 is 80W90.

Thanks for the info. This is great! I found that Chevron also makes an iso 150 oil that showed as equivalent to the Mobile SHC 629. Also interesting that 75w90 is iso 150 (same viscosity was the SHC 629).

Thanks for the info. Would you mind sharing how 75-90 is incompatible (aside from the difference in viscosity )? Trying to decide how urgent it is to drain out the 75/90.

Sell 2014 Model S before 8 Year warranty expires?

Same here. I think that I will hang on to the 2014 P85+. Bought a Y for the wife. Nice car, but I like the P85+ much more.

Interesting. IIRC, that's what I used for the rear. I didn't understand why they specified a different oil for the front. Thanks for sharing the info.

You Can See CT Price in Source Code

BTW @HellsKitchen , you don't happen to be Gordon Ramsay, are you? If so, give us an epic freak out when the price increase is announced. 😆

The language in the contract could probably protect them in court, but it doesn't prevent losing a pissed off customer for life. I for one (currently have 3 Teslas and CT ordered) would have no problems walking away from the brand if I feel cheated, regardless of what is written in the contract.

    Half Shaft removal LH side

Thanks for sharing that. I will probably need to do the same thing on the 70D soon.

Yeah, I am not sure either. I also looked up the specs and decided on the 75/90 because I was familiar with it. It’s my go to oil for decades to fill differentials.

I was hoping to see a better solution for future reference. I had the problem finding the oil. Ended up using this synthetic gear oil.

    Model s 85D 2015 won't heat

Don’t know for sure since the part number is different from mine (6007385-00-J). I replaced with the same part number. But I would guess that the D and E versions you referenced are likely compatible.
