I've had my Model S for over four years and I plug it in every night, just like we all do with our phones, and it starts to charge at 1:00 am. Charging stops when the limit I set is achieved. What could be simpler? Why complicate things?

I signed up for Time of Use plan from SCE. My charging is set to begin at 1:00 am. By looking on the SCE website I can see the hourly usage, and because nothing else of consequence is running at that time, I know how much was used for the charge.
