LV insurance states tracker required ?

I’ve seen multiple feedback on this point, both here and on the Owners Group FB page. LV have consistently accepted that the Tesla app tracking satisfies their needs - istr that some people have had that in a mail/text as well. I think, given the sheer numbers of folk who have been told the...

Check your v5 on model 3

My P- is described as “Model 3 Performance AWD” on the V5 and “Model 3 Long Range All-wheel Drive Performance” on the Tesla invoice. MSM is translated as “Grey” on the V5.

    Home Charging Stations

Unless you have 3 phase supply to your house then you will be restricted to around 32A which will give a bit over 7Kw/hr charging, whichever charger you choose. That’s not really any issue in practise as it still gives easy overnight charging. The government grant is available to “Smart”...

    Model 3 parking lights

yes, this was the situation I had in mind when I raised the question. We have friends we visit who live on a 30 mph road with no streetlights. Much better to leave the car showing some parking lights. Our previous BMW mini and Mercedes could do that easily. Bit more awkward now but at least...

    Part ex UK M3. Pathetic.

Surprised by that from AC. Our experience with two cars we sold to them was that they gave us the quoted price and didn’t haggle. There was a mark on the front of the merc which I hadn’t spotted but the guy just said that they didn’t expect used cars to be perfect and were happy with normal wear...

    Part ex UK M3. Pathetic.

Another vote for Arnold Clarke - much better price for my four year old Merc than anywhere else I could find (within a few hundred of the Parkers guide private sale price, which I always feel is optimistic anyway). They have two or three Mercedes dealers so they tend to keep mercs in-house. I...

    Parking ticket cancelled with dashcam

Anyone know how you can change the time zone on the date stamp on the video clips? Mine always comes as US time which is a bit odd sitting in the UK, and would make it harder to use the clips as defence. The time on the car itself is right.

    How to get update?

I've got the same situation - I've set the update bit on the screen to "advance" but nothing improved. I eventually sent a service request in form the app, got an appointment, which they then swiftly cancelled telling me that all software updates are rolled out in batches so I will receive V10...

    Best home charger?

I ordered it with the charger. Don’t know where the charger supplier sourced it, I’m afraid. I do know they are not cheap though. My quote was increased by about £160 to cover the extra cost of the tethered cable vs the normal EO mini unit.

    Best home charger?

That's an 8m cable, btw - car usually goes onto the drive towards, so it has to be able to reach all the way back.

    Best home charger?

Just bought a decent storage hook from Screwfix. It’s neat enough for me, and I prefer the the tethered solution so I don’t have to faff around getting cables into and out of the car.

    Buy or lease?

The rule of thumb on this is that if you want to keep the car for a longer period then buy it outright, if you want to change within 2-4 years then lease/PCP. The reason for that is depreciation - the shorter ownership period typically contains most of the depreciation, and the scale of that...

    Dashcam and Sentry USB

I'm using a Samsung FIT Plus 256 GB Type-A USB 3.1 flash drive - early days but seems fine so far. Reformatted it to FAT32, added the teslacam root folder and it seems to be happily recording away. £50 from Amazon, no adapter required, and at 256Gb I don't think there will be any capacity issues.

Model 3 Leasing - Delivery Updates

I wasn't leasing but all I needed for the OLEV grant was proof of the order.

    Home-charge tariffs (UK)

Still juggling with this. I’m attracted by the EDF deal, with the extended low rate/KWh periods, including all weekend. But whilst their off peak is 6p cheaper than our current (ho ho) supplier, the general rate is 3p higher. We do virtually all our EV charging at home, but the complicating...
