    Volvo no longer funding Polestar

So are the S and X still sold in the UK. They are not available in Australia anymore and I assumed that was because we got all our Teslas out of China which doesn't make S and X. There was also the possibility that they just didn't want to make RHD versions on the Fremont assembly line which...

EV drivetrains take twice as long to assemble as internal combustion engines

Probably because we have been assembling ICEs for over 100 years but have only just started on EVs. Its is fairly easy to see that an EV drivetrain is much simpler than an ICE drivetrain so as more EVs are built the time required will reduce.

Protection against running over a person ??

Were you using FSD, EAP or neither. As you say it was in ideal conditions for the cameras to "see" her although she wasn't moving. It would be interesting to know how the car would react if there was a large animal just out of human vision moving towards the road at a speed that would mean a...

Tesla FSD - A Five Year Perspective

Stopping would not be ideal, there is too many of them at dawn and dusk and anyway stopping for something the size of a rabbit or cat is a bit excessive. If the animal was bigger than that and sitting in the middle of the road then stopping maybe the best option but usually they are moving...

Tesla FSD - A Five Year Perspective

Yes, the major cause of accidents in Australia's rural areas is animal impact, mainly kangaroos, walabies and emus but feral pigs, deer and camels also feature and even domestic animals are a problem in some areas. If FSD or EAP could reasonably predict the path of a moving animal and take...

Tesla FSD - A Five Year Perspective

So after all this time with positive, neutral and negative opinions on FSD can anyone comment on its ability to avoid people and/or animals on the road. I won't claim to have read every thread on FSD and EAP but I have seen a fair few of them and the subject rarely comes up.

    Buying a Used M3 - WWYD

Well done Scratch, sometimes buying sight unseen can be a worry but since you had a friend involved that took out most of the risk and for that price as others had pointed out you really couldn't go wrong. I am looking to buy a used M3 SR+ in Australia. They only went on sale here in limited...

Another Tesla service center experience and warning for those doing their own suspension work

It's obvious that you would lose ABS (and any stability control) and maybe re-gen if Tesla has strange redundancy logic but there is no reason to lose power steering for speed sensor glitch. How difficult was it to steer the vehicle after the malfunction. I wonder if Tesla deliberately cuts...

    WTH is this?

From the pic the wire seems to be exiting from a neat (factory) hole in the black plastic. I would be looking for a similar vehicle and having a look to see what was there, or informing the forum on what model you have and asking us to inspect.

Tire pressure when cold recommendation for Model 3

The tyre pressure recommendation from Tesla (or any other manufacturer) is only a guide. The optimum pressure for any tyre will depend on its construction and operating conditions (load, temperature and speed). Use the recommendation as a starting point and assuming your alignments are all...

    Checks on a used M3 SR+

Firstly my apologies if there is a similar thread elsewhere, I have had a look around and couldn't find it. I would like to know what to look out for when buying a used M3 SR+. It is a white 2021 model indicating 50K km with VIN LRW3F7FA5MC176290. It has been passed into me at auction for...

    2022 Model 3 LR - Hit a deer

Yes, I would agree that stopping or at least slowing down as much as possible is the best and safest human option and what we do already for roos over here. I was wondering whether the Tesla's cameras would detect an animal sooner especially in low light conditions and be able to stop with more...

    2022 Model 3 LR - Hit a deer

Does anyone know whether FSD (or even autopilot) makes any attempt at avoiding wildlife. We only have a few deer in Australia but kangaroos are widespread in non urban areas and they frequently impact vehicles. Obviously any evasive manoeuvre is limited by the dynamic ability of the vehicle and...

    Digital Vision Safety

Has anyone had any experience with FSD dodging or avoiding wildlife that may wander or dart onto the road? Is a Tesla any good at it and does it use the full dynamic abilities of the vehicle without risking a loss of control.

    Wow. MCU almost killed me.

Not sure about other countries design rules but for headlights and brakes Australian Holden (GM) Commodores have dual circuits so in case of a failure you still have partial lights or brakes. Dual brake circuits have been around since the '60s, dual headlight circuits since the '80s (separate...
