I can now charge at 80A, should I?

mod note:Some others have raised an issue with this post and the safety of following it so read accordingly No, warm is not correct or normal. And remember I said "good electricians". Why in the world would you ever take a chance with something like this? It's stupid. As for gauge...

    lol, you're funny...

Is there something wrong with the battery? Any waterproof case for the key or drop-pr

(We're all silently hoping it wasn't toilet water...)

I can now charge at 80A, should I?

Steve, your branch circuit is under-designed! The lines and breaker should never never get warm. Good electricians will install over-designing by 1/3, so if you intend to charge at 80A the circuit should have at least 100 ampacity, meaning 1 gauge for runs up to 100'. And breakers to match...

Info: When Balancing Occurs, and Pack Maintenance

This doesn't mean that I am false. It just means that your modules are very similar to one another. There is no evidence that balancing takes place below 90% nor when unplugged. I personally know of several cars which have sat for months at between 20 and 60% SoC and only lost proportionate...

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

No, not me. I have a reputation to uphold. Mods already gave me 5 'demerits'. (although I haven't read them)

    Cost of a new battery?

None of us has tried it but I doubt it. Some dude a year or so got Tesla to reprogram, but that was the last one known.

Fine. You'll live with an unbalanced pack. Sorry but I really don't care.

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

Dude! Go easy. Heat to 165 (torch) then pry. The fact that you don't see water so far is a good sign. If you preserve the main cover it can be reapplied, and then cut some sheetmetal to replace what you've torn.

"Tesla recommends"? Reference please. If you never charge above 90% your pack will always be out of balance. Take it or leave it.
  11. Q

    Cost of a new battery?

Oh, forget about warranty. It's possible that a different pack won't even be recognized by the car without SC reprogramming. And if you've put an 85 in a 70 car, Tesla will not program it as a matter of policy. It's a pricing decision. (they want you to buy an S85 instead)

Extended Service Agreements No Longer Transferable?

I'm speaking of DU replacements on newer cars, like 2014-15. I have been paying attention to this sir, and as I say virtually all reported here are on the Performance models.

    Repairing a Flooded Tesla Model S : HOW-TO

It's doubtful that they do regular VIN sweeps of CarFax, and it's unlikely the insurance companies would bother to report the fact of its salvage status to Tesla. It is possible though unlikely that Tesla sweeps DMV records for title transfers of salvage Teslas. (I know that car dealers do find...

Extended Service Agreements No Longer Transferable?

lol, my sentiments exactly. I only carry the minimum liability insurance for house, car, and avoid it altogether for commercial. I can handle it. Have for 40 years. However Elon's goal of a million-mile drivetrain notwithstanding, there have been alot of replaced traction motors... enough to...

Great rechargeable motion & light sensing trunk light

I might put them in, but I'd and wire them to the regular trunk light circuit.
