    If the alternator is spinning at around 5,000 RPM for the rated output, and what is driving it is spinning at 10,000 RPM, how would the alternator output be 7.35kW?

    I agree, which is why I plan to have an alternator gear/pulley ratio of 2:1 so the car will only have to experience an extra load of 10 or 11 HP. I mention this ratio in the screen shot.

    Your looking to match the generator speed to the motor speed, EV motors spin pretty fast, the MS has a 9.73:1 motor to drive shaft ratio. Check generator specs to see what their RPM limits are before bearings start to fail.

    Thanks for the replies, with the efficiencies and display information, I have a much better idea of what kind of power the on-board chargers are supplying. Hopefully one day I will own one a Tesla. If I find more info on the chargers elsewhere, I will post it.

    Thanks for your reply. The reason I would like to know is for some research Im doing regarding directly charging with DC instead of using AC. For the super chargers, Ive read that they pump 440V DC at 90kw into the car. So is it safe to say that the amperage would be about 205A right?
